Buried

Ok, so, last week totally kicked my ass. And it doesn’t look like the next couple of weeks are going to be any kinder. I may neglect the blog/news posts for a while. I’m sure you’re crushed.

There isn’t a lot going on for gaming for me right now, aside from League of Legends and dabbling in some Heroes of Newerth. I was tempted to check out the Captain America game coming out this week (I’m really optimistic and excited for the movie), but early impressions so far are not favoreable. I’ve been burned too many times by movie adaptations that looked like they’d be decent from the trailers.

I tried out the demo for Catherine, and can safely say that it is not my cup of tea. The demo started out great, with a neat sort vertical platforming race scored combo sort of a game that I could see myself enjoying. However that was over in less than ten minutes, and the game immediately launched into forty-million hours of obnoxious anime crap. I shut the demo off as soon as I’d spent three times as long watching cutscenes as actually playing any sort of game. I’m pretty sure you can skip the cutscenes, but it seems silly to me that you’d need to skip through 90% of the game just to get to, you know, the actual gaming parts.

The XBL arcade has had some great little games though. Warhammer 40k: Kill Team is awesome, but co-op on the same console only. Seems like a bit of a misstep not to feature online co-op… and not have it be four-player. But for what it is, it’s pretty enjoyable. I look forward to having a friend over to play through it.

I’m pretty excited to check out Bastion, which arrives this week. The style of it intrigues me. Check out the launch trailer.

Deus Ex is still over a month away, which is sad. But with all the projects behind-the-scenes this month, I’m happy not to have any major release tugging at my attention.

Speaking of fun projects… in a couple of weeks I’m going to have some pretty awesome news regarding our little Operation Spider Shark initiative from last month. Keep an eye out!
