Hoopa!

Been playing some Brothers in Arms. Ehh… it’s good. I really like the ease with which you can command your squad, for setting up tactical maneuvers such as flanking. It really adds that much needed extra element to the game.

Unfortunately, as far as I’ve played (admittedly not too far) the game just doesn’t seem very… epic. I mean, I think of World War II and I think of the thousands and thousands of brave men who went headlong into enemy territory for the sake of the great campaign. I think Band of Brothers type shit. Not some scrawny Screech-from-Saved-by-the-Bell looking dork in my platoon who doesn’t know which end of the gun shoots. Not an uneccesarily thick blanket of the word “fuck” that seems to only be used to try and mask the fact that in German-occupied France there only seem to be a small handful of Germans. It’s like “Hey! Look! We’re cursing like madmen over here! We’re edgy! Don’t pay attention to the shoddy lip-synching of our character models!”

Of course… I’ll keep playing it. It is entertaining, and the good does outweigh the bad. I’ll have to get on Live and check out the multiplayer. Or grab a second copy and play on system link. I’m interested to see how it works out with each player getting their own squad. I can forsee some fun there.

Also playing some Devil May Cry 3, though I’m not sure “playing” is the correct word. Getting violated in all manners is probably a better description of my time spent with this game. There isn’t much to be said that hasn’t already been said, but this game is fucking hard.
