Observation

When you play a video game, most of the enjoyment comes from the experience, the play-through. You have fun working your way to the end, and then when you get there (for most games) the ending is a let-down.

The process of renovating, everything leading up to the ending, sucks. But when you finally get to the end and see it finished, that’s the payoff. That’s when the enjoyment kicks in.

Both provide enjoyment and reward… but man, video games are a hell of a lot cheaper.
