Spoken as a good monolingual person 🙂 Here I was thinking that maybe in 2019 we could understand that sometimes the English name of something may not be the original name? Especially for something that was not created in an English-speaking country. Silly me.

Now if they would’ve just said it was Sanic The Hedgehog… I could buy that. The design of his character was just….it just wasn’t “feeling” like sonic. No Gloves, Small eyes, And the shoes… ect ect

I feel roughly the same way about the upcoming Pokemon movie, where Bulbasaur and Squirtle, both reptiles, are furrier than your cat and Pikachu is a snide jerk and the movie is about solving/avenging a murder (from what I could tell). Oh, and Mr. Mime’s shoulders are literally Voit kickballs. It’s just another train wreck where not one single person on the staff knew the first thing about it.

Don’t quite get the “title text”.
Honestly, Sonic is a distinctly non-realistic entity. Whereas pokemon are intended to be animesque depictions of sorta real things, Sonic is supposed to be cartoony no matter what. So if you want to make Sonic realistic…don’t. Having it be a 1080p tier rendering of the normal Sonic image (along with a few changes I guess?) will work far better than the thing that has arisen.

This aged particularly well. Through the purging fire of internet hate, something actually pretty decent emerges… and in only 6 months!
Not surprised. Writing a good script takes a while, even with a short 3-4 panel bit, and people are used to expecting a full comic. Making sillies then would only be extra work, placed on the side, where people don’t usually see them or notice a new one. Not to mention, I’ve noticed that ever since the criticism he got in CAD 1.0, Tim’s specifically trying to shy away from taking art short cuts in his strip, often redrawing scenes that other webcomics just reuse panels for. I saw the released film and enjoyed the movie. Would recommend anyone that likes Sonic to give it a view.

Maybe time for a different one of these? They redid Sonic and I heard it wasn’t terrible. Also judging by the comments it has been a year. /shrug
