I recon, the scrapper felt so bad for insulting the ship earlier. He got some of his friends to come and help and is going to offer to fix it… See one of them has even got his wrench ready!
If not, no doubt it’ll melt but I wonder how quickly. Might get a single good hit in, impact being so quick it doesn’t have time to melt before damage is done.
I vaguely recall bullets melting on contact so I’m not sure a wrench could move fast enough, even given the fact that there is much more material in a wrench than in bullets. That said, I might be remembering entirely incorrectly.
I suspect that the mass to surface area ratio is important here.
Bullets have a much higher surface area for being “melted” than a wrench does for the same amount of mass so in theory a wrench could still do serious damage.

Chaug (and possibly the guy on the left) from the first issue! Interesting twist I didn’t see coming.
Bot sure on the left guy, but it can’t be Chaug after Grin met him in the second issue (2.04). It’s another member of his species, we’ve seen this guy on page 8.16.
I miss Chaug, though… He was such a reliably dickish guy.

So here’s my question for Spek. He melts through what he touches. But he’s not melting through his platform he stands on. Or the gloves he’s wearing. So instead of using the floating platform, why not just make some shoes of the same material?
I think that’s a valid point, my only concern would be is that doesn’t he drip the acid? So he’d still have to worry about spilling past the shoes, but then again, he still would have to worry about that with acid spilling over the platform
he has sandals of the same material and has used them several times. The walker pod (its not floating, just has the legs retracted) is to completely isolate him from accidental melting. He uses the gloves and sandals for times he needs to dismount or requires more dexterity. However if he were to trip while out of the pod the rest of his body would melt a hole through the floor. Safer for all involved if he stays in the pod whenever possible.

It’s nice to know that Speck uses the same safety glasses most of us use when working on things (squinting)!

ohhh please come to apologize and ask if he needs any help with repairs…. then sabotage something so that it breaks specifically within a few lightyears so they can go pick em up at their convenience.

The guy with the crystal in his head looks familiar; either we’ve seen another member of his species, or this is a past enemy. Green dude looks like another of Chaug’s species.

I mean, if you hit him with a heavy metal object, you’d still stave his skull in. I dont think his miasma of melt can do in a lead pipe faster than it can convey kinetic force into him. Am I wrong?
Unknown. he melts shit pretty fast so it might not be any worse than you or I getting hit by a large water balloon. That said all his bodily fuilds are full of face melting goodness. Hock a luggie at the attacker and he might not get the chance to take a swing.
Time to melt some more dip shits
They seem to be wearing some kind of outfit. If they’re smart it’s something to protect them from melting.
I mean, his face is still meltable but it is a bit high.
Not Billy Bob in the overalls…he will still melt good like.
I’m guessing the vote will be next issue? Looking forward to see what the options were, and what was voted for
Only cost you two bucks to find out and you can read the next 25 pages right now. 🙂
I’m not really sure why this was down-voted so much, it’s an accurate statement
Maybe they don’t know there is a Patreon page for this comic?

Maybe the three guys simply wanted a hug.
That wrench’d better be nivium, just sayin’…

Ah yes, you are right. For some reason I recall the scrapper in 8.16 being a different colour

Because then tripping wouldn’t mean melting through the floor of your ship, breaching the hull, and getting sucked into the vacuum of space.
I think that’s a valid point, my only concern would be is that doesn’t he drip the acid? So he’d still have to worry about spilling past the shoes, but then again, he still would have to worry about that with acid spilling over the platform
Think he actually has some nivium footwear, sandals or whatever. Think they’re visible in one of the top panels here https://cad-comic.com/comic/the-starcaster-chronicles-05-23/
I seem to recall an issue where he had Nivium shoes… but I assume the dripping is an issue that renders it less than ideal.

It’s “cahluminium”.
