Come on, Cort, give your Tentuncle a hug. Pretty much your last family in this galaxy which is about to go up in Starcaster fire due some xenophobic alien empire.
Speck should probably refrain from hugging him, though.

Next panel, another voice:
And this is the a****ole we have come to rescue?
Of course one or two other armed guys looking at him.

Knew it! But it wasn’t that hard to guess. But I do hope that Cort’s personal growth after past experiences will somehow came into play. He is a little bit different man now.
Quel did try to help him back then, so I don’t think Cort will actually shoot him.
Well, probably. He still doesn’t want anyone following him because of the Starcaster, and likely won’t want to go back to the Federation (or anyone else) with it.

This might not be exactly story related, but i wonder…
Tim, how do you get inspired for ship designs?
SciFi stuff or airplanes?
It’s possible, but Quel paid attention to relatively minor event (a Mimion-caused death), possibly because he knew Cort’s crew. Someone without his knowledge might not get the same idea.
Though now I wonder, how did he know, where did the ship fly off to.
Logs. I mean, really, everything in our reality is getting logged in a way or another. It is already possible to easily de-anonymize data. Anyhow, flying through space is dangerous, they must use predetermined routes so not to enter a sun or collide with an asteroid. Those routes most likely keep tracks of whatever is going on, there is a need to regulate traffic after all.
So the answer is: good old detective work. Other answer: space magic.
I feel the same way every time starcaster comes along XD

For a man who admitted he’s the one at fault you’re awfully fast with a gun, Cort.

*scooby voice* RUH ROH…. the fact that cort now understands the gravity that hes got a starcaster now, and chooses to hold a gun to a former friend/colleague/confidant…. speaks loads… im SO happy that hes not prepared (Yet) to hold the star caster up instead of the gun, but… you know… which would REALLY make quel take him more seriously.
I mean the starcaster is overpowered, firing it can apparantly be detected, he is still mastering to NOT fire by accident and it also hurts him… A LOT.
Meanwhile his gun… Simple and just as effective a threat, arguably more so in general as everyone can tell immediately there is a gun waving at them and while all know starcasters exist, few actually get to see one in person or would believe a wielder is in front of them.

Not even sure why he’s bothering to point a gun at him. Yeah, he has limited control of the Star Caster, but Octodad doesn’t know that, and it would heal him anyway if I’m not mistaken. He wouldn’t even need to “point” the caster at him as a threat. It’s presence is sufficient.

+1 for proper use of Tentuncle

The Aphelion is inspired by the 1967 Shelby GT500
The tail on that one reminds me of a F117
I suspect how this goes depends on how well Quel outlines the situation.
If Quel can find them … so can others. Also the Feds declared him a threat. Basically, come peacefully, or run forever.

Because he mugged a gangster and forced him to cough up surveillance that would normally be hidden from cops.
Don’t know about you folks, but I’m getting spoiled with this daily comic. I’m gonna go into withdrawal when we go back to three comics per week!

maybe he does not want to obliterate the random planetoid behind Quel by using the Starcaster?
Has it been established that it’s all or nothing with the star caster? The smile face Cort just made seems to suggest he can throttle the power.
Honestly seems like simple pragmatism really.

Grrl Power did a strip sort of about that a long time ago. It’s probably not EXACTLY comparable since everyone knows what a Starcaster is and do but…

I’m assuming this was their ship when they were partners?
