Yeah, The US system is more like: we’re going to use tiny incisions and laparoscopic tools to get in there. We will cut the tumor out then send it to pathology to make sure we got all of it. Then we will sew you up, give you some nice pain meds, and send you home to recover once you’re stable.
Oh, and I hope you have good health insurance from your employer – if not, let us know when that 2nd mortgage gets approved so you can pay us.
Aww, see that assumes the insurance company will deem the surgery to remove the tumor “medically necessary” to begin with and even approve the procedure. That’s not a given.
And one of the staff members (e.g. the anaesthesiologist) on the surgery team is “out of network” so their fees aren’t covered.

I love Lucas’ slight smile in the last panel. He got the sound advice he needed, AND the comedic relief on top.

There is a certain amount of logic to his logic, and I love/hate that’s where Ethan lives.

Look, as long as there are no more patients with tumors, the job is done. Whether the next phase is for the medic or mortician, it’s got nothing to do with me.

Sounded like a reasonable approach right up to the word “knife”
Solid logic there.
ah, yep, there’s the Ethan we almost thought was gone in the previous page
-Hmm, what do I do with Ben..?
-Stab it a whole lot of times!
Ladies and gentlemen, we are witnessing the beginning of a yandere arc.
To be fair, that is KINDA correct… at least in the American health system.
Yeah…no.

Having the tumor might be a “preexisting condition” that we did not disclose so it was OUR fault for getting sick.
