Well its not like the switch2 is free for him just because he co-owns a game store. At best he can forego his profit on the sale of a switch2 and pay wholesale price for the console, which isnt exactly a huge discount. So maybe Lucas can’t financially justify an upgrade just yet, or maybe hes waiting for a game hes interested in before pulling the trigger and getting one. Tim said above that he drew this comic in January, so he’s got a buffer. Switch 2 wasn’t announced until mid January.
I’m guessing that he probably keeps the store’s game advertisements and the labels on games blank initially so that when the comic releases, he can make it feel current and not dated. But what is actually drawn would be the same.
Also curious what game he’s playing. Honestly these days I’m less in tune with what kinda Switch games the two of them are likely to pick up. I think in the old universe Lucas liked a few fighting games? But that’s not something you can easily just pause while at work unless it’s against a CPU.

That’s the catch. Make Sure you know what you’re getting into as can be anything from just wanting a player 2 for a hellish hard gaming puzzle otherwise, to Actually re-enacting the prisoner sacrifice scene from God of War.

Omg it just dawned on me. He’s gonna end up matching with Lilah, isn’t he. Then he’s gonna develop a connection while texting back and forth, show up to their date, realise it’s her, and have to struggle with which of the choices he has, are the least douchbaggy. If he turns around and walks away, then he’s the douche who stood her up. In the game, you need to switch your controller to the other port to beat Psycho Mantis (who’s mind reading your controller).

If I recall correctly, Tim has a lead time of about a week. As in next Friday’s comic is already written and likely drawn.
That said, it wouldnt be hard to edit a speech bubble to inflict some good old psychological damage to his comment section.
