Distractions

September 3, 2025 by Tim

Well, here we go again, back to school. Which means they’re out of the house 5 days a week, and now I can’t blame any lack of productivity on anyone but myself.

Sure you can, Silksong is 1 day away. Plenty of distraction to be blamed.

I think I cannot post links, but I saw an image of silksong announcing a 2 week delay to avoid interfering with the release of silksong.

These secrets aren’t going to unlock themselves” is not a valid excuse?

This is why you need cats. Cats to sit in front of your monitor. Cats to sit on your keyboard. Cats to sit on your mouse hand.

Children truly are treasures.

. . .

They should be buried and then claimed 20 years later.

Yeah, but the great thing is, you make comics about gaming. Which means that playing games is “research”.

Your value as a human is not based on your productivity. That pervasive concept is from a sect of Christianity that used that false equivalency to justify undue hardship as moral superiority, and then as a marker of god’s favour in that people with success/money in life were already given god’s favour.

Uhm, no? That is just a consequence of our economical system where someone else profits from your work more than you do. If we all agreed to work 3 days a week society will function just fine and everyone will be happier

Your productivity is compelled through the gatekeeping of access to goods that are vital to your existence. If you had the land, tools, raw materials, and knowledge to do it yourself (as a community, not a single person), you would have no reason to be maximally productive. You and your community would simply work to the point where your needs are met. and work beyond that would be applied to making advancements. TL;DR You feel a pressure to be productive because someone else has the power to take away your access to the means of basic survival. The urge to… Read more »

It’s cute that you think people would actually work to that point when it’s just for the “common good”. Evidence instead suggests that near on everyone would slack off. There’s a reason one of the most distinct issues associated with communist countries is famine. There’s also a reason most communist countries in history instituted forced labor and work quotas and such. People aren’t these happy-go-lucky workaholics you seem to think. For the majority of people, if they believe they’ll have food on the table and heat in the house and a bed to sleep on regardless of whether they work… Read more »

What? Famines didn’t happen in communist countries because people refused to work. On the contrary, they were forced to work, usually in the industrial sector. The focus on industrialization also ignored agricultural technologies, leading to farmers using outdated and ineffective equipment and practices, compounded by natural disasters and ecological disruptions. Famines happened because of government mismanagement, not laziness. Also, it’s cute you went straight to communism when someone mentions communities working together to meet their needs. Communities have been doing that from far before Karl Marx was born, and still do everywhere a warlord doesn’t have a boot on their… Read more »

43 years old here and I still don’t understand why people set up families instead of just playing video games and browsing internet undisturbed. Which is what I’m doing 😀 I do have a day job too so I could afford staying at home in the free time.

Oh darn some of that time I guess you will just have to spend playing games that are too gory/mature to play around the kids.
