Amazon’s game studio has a new MOBA coming out. I haven’t played a MOBA in nearly a decade, but I’m actually digging the alpha. And I especially love the industrial-Victorian the setting. I know Amazon Games has not had the best track record thus far, but maybe they can make this one work.

I had to google MOBA before sharing your disappointment.

To be fair, it’s been a hot minute since we’ve had a new major release in that genre. I remember a time when every second game was a MOBA. O_O

My issues with MOBA’s is generally that there’s only one way to play them and be successful. You have to push and not feed, etc. Its boring, just like every RTS was after the zerg tactics evolved. No one wanted to build a cool base anymore.

My only experience with MOBAs also has been matches that just seem to last forever. I’ve played matches in Smite that went over 30 minutes and that just feels too long for a multiplayer game.

I remember when I first tried to play an RTS online, thinking it would be cool to build a big defended base and duke it out with another, only to be demolished before I had built my third building. Never tried online RTS again.

I’ll be very wary of this one. I was in the New World beta and it was remarkable how quickly they u-turned from “we’ll never have MTX!” to “hey here’s our store! But dw it won’t be our focus!”

Shame, really. It was a fantastic game, and gorgeous to boot. They just cared more about the MTX. Hoping I’m wrong with this one but we’ll see.

This just in, an Amazon subsidiary puts profits before all else. More shocking news at 11.

The marketing material was translated by AI tools. The artistry was not.

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Some game and marketing content was translated with the assistance of AI tools.

I find it ironic that, based off the trailer, even though there is a ton of small soldiers running around all over the place, it still seems like it is easier to tell what is going on than in something like league of legends.

I don’t know why but some reason I though that right guy was a player, fantasizing about being a giant character in game and crushing innocent’s people on purpose.

Amazon and their complete disregard of the gaming industry.

If only MOBA’s didn’t inevitably devolve into incredibly toxic atmospheres with players believing their’s is the only way to play. There is no room for different builds or play styles.
