I find that Ethan is more Batman, as he does not have any super power except for respawning. Even his costume is similar to Batman. Though he lacks any other characteristics (except for not wanting to kill people)
Yeah the outfits would imply Ethan is Batman, but his impulsiveness and recklessness are all Robin. Lucas is the thinking, level headed one, more like Batman.
Not to mention the controller…rangs.. or whatever they are called, grappling hooks, and he actually did a batman voice and moviequote in one of the first comics. He definitely wants to be Batman.
The troll falls under the Joker category of villians. A deranged psychopath that somehow sustains a following and manages to pull off the most convoluted plans with honestly pretty lame end-games of messing with just 1-2 individuals.
The troll is a bit more blatant in the “how does that even work?!?” aspect of it. Which idk if its intentional as a bit of a parody, or just a coincidence. Can’t say it isn’t on brand though!

the current “girlfriend”of ethan is blonde.
The Troll has stolen the same chemicals that made him, him.
I’ve said before that I like fantastical stories. There should still be some logic to it though. The Troll has had no reason to know Ethan’s identity. No reason to know Ethan is trying to date via a particular app. How could the Troll have planned any of this? What is his end game? It seems to be a really different brand of torture than his usual stuff. And what is the goal here? The Troll already has big public plans. What is this private thing doing here? Even if we look at it from a narrative perspective, what does… Read more »
Nicole working with the Troll beforehand makes less than zero sense. We’ve seen how Ethan stumbled into this relationship, there is no way Troll could’ve set up all of that to work out like this. And this kind of infiltration thing is pretty much the opposite of everything Troll has ever done. It doesn’t match his motive, his M.O. or his goals. From a story perspective it’d also be terrible. It doesn’t add anything, it only makes everything that has happened more stupid. None of what we’ve seen makes sense if Nicole actually was a Troll agent. Nicole and Trolls… Read more »
I agree. I can TOTALLY see her joining the Troll legion if Ethan breaks it off, though. Some ex’s IRL (regardless of gender) can truly go off the deep end.

Or a citywide anti-superpower serum, so they can frolick around the lantern lit streets as the trolls they are.

I remember Elijah, guy with super speed whoβs sibling was killed in a mass shooting, I donβt remember Alex
Maybe they met through the public defenders office? I can’t imagine there’s a lot of defense attorneys put there willing to take up a super villains case unless they legally had to. Plus Elijah and Alex didn’t exactly seem well-off enough to afford a big time lawyer and Troll probably would need a public defender because he’d be unable to find any other attorney willing to put up with his antics.

I wonder how is the dynamics between the villains. Elijah is basically good person, even as a terrorist with corrupted justice, and Alex never actually hurted anyone, just justified himself stealing and cheating. None of these seem likely to vibr with the Troll’s plan. I see several options: 1. They radicalised in jail and now want to see the world burns (unlikely, even though Alex somewhat nihilist). 2. They reluctantly help the Troll as payment for the jail break (operated by the cult, maybe?) 3. They help because the Troll convinced them that his plan advance their purposes, or offered… Read more »
Elijah isn’t “basically good,” he’s a broken person. He fits more into the Well Intentioned Extremist trope. “Anyone in my way must die” doesn’t exactly scream Good Person. The ‘Bad Blood’ / ‘Brannigan’ Deathblood/Scott arc made that point about a sentient robot, so presumably it extends to people.
I think sadly, he was hitting the point of “Everyone plays games, everyone defends them … everyone is my Enemy” if he hadn’t been caught then we might have started seeing him mass-attack gaming conventions for example. It’s a shame I really was rooting for the deaths to have been caused by soemone following him and framing him at the time in that storyline
Yeah. Earlier, when he was just tagging, and when he would listen to reason, he was “basically good but misguided.” He’s now descended into “Every villain is the hero of his own story.”
Kill masses because a psychopath tells him to? Probably not. But current Elijah absolutely could come up with a plan to kill masses by himself, as long as those masses are somehow involved with video games.
That said, Troll doesn’t seem the kind to randomly kill masses. He’s more about the personal, targeted destruction. He might kill masses in order to hurt Analog (or other supers) for not saving them or something like that, but it’d be a means, not an end. Like how the arson spree had the Analog hate shrines as an underlying motive.

Also: Bless you, Scott, for assuming the Trollify is only for cult members who choose the transform willingly
According to past comics heβs 5β11β. But it could also be that he looks really tall compared to Scott.

You know when the Troll and Analog had their last showdown I thought he was going to mutilate Analog the same way he was. That the injection was non-lethal and initially didn’t seem to do anything, but later it’d slowly deform Ethan later and he can’t kill himself to get rid of it because he waited too long. Glad it didn’t go that route because that seems very dark.
Somehow I’m just now making the mental connection between the Troll and The Joker.
Now he makes so much more sense.
Which I guess makes Ethan “Robin”, because Lucas is definitely “Batman”.
I find that Ethan is more Batman, as he does not have any super power except for respawning. Even his costume is similar to Batman. Though he lacks any other characteristics (except for not wanting to kill people)

True. He’s got a ‘Commissioner Gor(B)en’ too!
I can’t remember, does the troll have any super power, or just a really ugly face?
He seems to have the power to make people waste time on him. Other than that, he just has an ugly face and the ability to influence scumbags
charisma is a scary thing when applied properly
Or improperly…

Bulky Harley Queen is coming? π
Usually comments are wrong.. But I am for this idea!
Supervillain name: The Gaslighter.
I’ve been suspecting she’s really working for The Troll all along.
I don’t think this is true, but if Ethan breaks it off with her, I could see her eventually joining the troll army if things go really south.

Issue 2. The Black Hat. Kid with a custom glove with wall clipping and speed powers. It also seemed to let him cheat at video games.
He was in the same prison? Wasn’t he a kid and should be in juvie?

True. I meant “Basically good” in the specific context of “unlikely to kill masses because a green psychopath told him too”

Right. Poison the water supply to Trollify everyone seems more plausible.
It’s much more Troll-ish to force things on unwilling people. It appeals to thier shitty mindsets.
Is it just me or does Ethan look really tall in the first panel?

That sounds like the 3rd worst deadpool origin story.
Why not both?
at what point does ethan go ok call in the big boy heroes?
starting to sound captain prime level work now. this way out of local neighbourhood scope.
I heard “Dammit, Scott.” in Aubrey Plaza’s voice and was prepared for the light to go out… π
