I wouldn’t put it past Tim to have originally planned to eventually have Ethan find out he never lost his powers, but due to everyone guessing about when it’s gonna happen, Tim decided, “Fuck it! He lost them and he’s never getting his powers back!”
… or its an elaborate plot for us, his readers, to get another CAD reboot. Where Ethan and Lucas die and Sam is so guilt ridden that he becomes evil.
The next reboot of CAD would probably be Ethan and Lucas in the dark ages.
I doubt it. Tim did the reboot for very specific reasons, and I don’t see any reason why he would change it now. I’ve been reading the comics from the very beginning, and there was a massive tonal shift that became awkward and incompatible for Tim, and he wanted to take the comic toward a more serious perspective. Knowing what I know now, he made the right decision.
The thing is, eventually they are right and can say “I told you so!” That shows persistence eventually is rewarded.
However, a few of us could have been saying “I told you so” for all the comics where it still hasn’t happened. That is a whole lot more “I told you so”, but no one notices important things where things do not change.
Ps. Though his arc with Nicole seems to be at an end and his powers returning would be reasonable story wise, I say he’s still going to continue his deathless run.
Sam getting hurt, or Sam attracting the Troll’s attention and becoming his latest fixation, “Lameboy?”
Although I suppose his trollification gives him a personal grudge with A+D.
Would be nice to see the city’s superhero legions show up as thanks for taking all the heat off them. Although maybe they’re all mad as Troll massively escalated to arson and attempted murder (and one manslaughter/felony murder, the unseen and accidentally exploded “PC games,” unless that was another trolling) once they became involved.
I don’t think he’s mocking it per se, as more like giving him some good-natured ribbing.

‘Mooom’ forgot to mention the airtag & bug she slipped into a hidden pocket on his costume so she can sit in the minivan just around the corner monitoring the situation intently, and sweep in for the rescue with absolute momrage at a moments notice if necessary.
he does, from what I can remember he can “freeze” objects and people in place by touching them and unfreeze them by touching them again, with a big caveat : he gets hit by their kinetic force at the moment he freezes them, meaning if he stop a huge object thrown at him, he will STILL get hurt. Anything moving fast enough to do some real damage still represents a danger to him. But he has huge potential as a support

Hmm….maybe his mom will be not far behind and jump in when he’s in danger and reveals that she also has some kind of power?
Her power is that she has eyes in the back of her head.

What can possibly go wrong.
Well, everything. And I second the thought that we´ll know at the end of that arc if Ethan is still powered or just an armored meat bag.

His mom is disgustingly wholesome…
But with such an intro, I expect that none of the promises will be upheld… 🙁

I don’t know if Ethan will ever get his powers back. But if he does, I think this experience will make him less casual with their use. No more “cutting his throat to heal a broken arm” kind of shenanigans and still wearing armor etc…

This entire comic today made me smile and tear up a little. Such love and understanding. And even the sly smirking teasing that Analog is giving his teen protegé … *chef’s kiss*

This seems like a spectacularly bad idea right?

This might’ve been covered in a past comic but I gots a terrible memory but it would be a great twist if Sam’s Dad was Deathblood or his Mom was Capt’n Prime or whatever. Could also be his sister or something? Just thought I’d share this wild idea

Honestly man, I’d do almost anything to get embarrassed by my mom again. I get where he’s coming from, but still.

Oh man.. Imagine Elijah’s reaction to bringing a child in as a video game themed sidekick.
Oh you know Sam is gonna play hero and get caught in the crossfire. It’s gonna break Ethan and I’m so here for it.
I am thinking maybe this is how we discover whether Ethan still have his powers, when he puts himself in harm’s way to protect Sam.
Annnnd cut !
I think you broke the all-time record of 35 comics without a comment “and it is how we discover Ethan still has his power” !
Congratulations !

Only after an issue break tho!
Heh heh, we’ve been saying that for every upcoming potential conflict.

Relax. You need to be a specific kind of author to kill a wholesome teenager character, and so far I don’t see Tim as one of them
A mothers love conquers anything! Someone bonk Ethan for mocking him for it.
It is a strange thing in society where we mock the openly loving bond between parents and son.
I don’t think he’s mocking it per se, as more like giving him some good-natured ribbing.

No evil doer is safe. Bits will be left, Maybe.
After a fully armed and operational mom rage there may only be ashes.
And there we have it, the start of the rift that leads to Gameboys villain arc!
And this is how we discover Ethan still has powers? 😉
But.. honeslty, I don’t remember if the youg man has powers too…
