You! You are what’s wrong with the world! (Please know I’m being sarcastic)
Really though, if the game fetches from chests it’s not AS bad, but it’s still obnoxious, because if you want to find anything (for creating a new base, for gearing yourself differently, for building something not at the base, etc) it’s always nearly impossible when people treat organization like it doesn’t matter at all
I’m the guy that starts building organized chests from the very beginning and is constantly redoing them as more resources are found. It doesn’t matter if it’s Minecraft, 7 Days to Die, Planet Crafter, whatever. $h!t needs to be ORGANIZED!
I found in Raft that a) I built many chests and even colour coded them, but there were times where I needed to grab as many resources as possible before I missed some flotsam I wanted while also raiding an island and if I’d tried to take everything where it was supposed to be, you’d lose more than if you just slammed every close chest with whatever it could take.
Soulmask actually solves that in a clever way. You can have one of your tribesman do the sorting for you, you just need to tag what purpose that chest got. Interesting concept that a lot of those survival games could copy.
And yep, basewide Access to everything is a thing, however i dont really like it too much as it somewhat takes away from the survival simulation (as convenient it is)
So without mods, there are ways to potentially fetch from chests, but realistically it is not anything close to efficient, and it is not something you can readily put into a production line and automate it.
Also, I am the “friends” when it comes to this comic.
I do not care about looks, only that it is working.
It made late game a drag because I didn’t make any factory setup neat and orderly.
However, it doesn’t matter I had fun.

Looks to me like everyone else has thematically linked their organically grown factories and the middle guy didn’t get the memo.

I didnt play with him for long but we had a diff issue. He used a giant floating platform and I prefered not to. After I logged for the night he just demoed the section I made to move it to his platform and max overclock everything. He added a mod to craft overclock chips somehow since he wasnt okay with not overclocking literally everything. And he would build out 250% utilization from the start so he didnt have anything from oil till he slowly piped everything back and built out to make far more than he ever used. On… Read more »
In the current version the recommendation is to use summersloops in constructors to multiply the number of shards per slug, and later you can make artificial ones via official recipes but honestly I prefer just making 2.5x as many machines 🏭🏭
Ohh the summersloops have a function now?
Wow up to double output without increasing input (other than power).
Thats cool. Theres a whole new Tier 9 with some wild stuff I have never seen before.
What ya do is, you underclock your factories when you have mk1 miners to 62.5% and build however many machines that takes. Then when you upgrade to mk2 miners, you double the production in all the machines. Then when you get mk3, you double them again! Since 250% is the limit, 62.5% is the ‘line’ where you can double it twice. That way even your old factories can maintain peak output as you upgrade! Ficsit pioneers are contractually obligated to pursue efficiency.
In addition, theres a really easy to perform dupe glitch using the manual dimensional uploader (basically die with something being uploaded, save, and everytime you load that save the contents of the manual uploader will be duplicated). So you can also easily get enough shards and sloops to put it in everything.
However, given a fully overclocked and slooped machine uses 13 times the power as a normal machine… well lets just say your power grid isnt gonna like that too much.

Wait until you’ll need to automate vehicles for long hauling stuff to other facilities that makes what your main facility can’t make. And ensure they have a steady fuel income so you won’t need to perpetually travel the whole map to fill that one truck that went out of fuel. Same for trains with electricity and so on.
Because I am probably smooth brain with automating vehicles in satisfactory, I did manage to clear phase 5 without ever using them.
My spaghetti weeps[TM]
I remember playing it like 4 years ago. I made a huge platform because uneven terrain bothered me. Can you still do it? Create your own island in the air?
Just embrace the use of airspace. Build up in paired levels/floors for each resource/output; even numbers are N/S while odds are E/W. Then you have dedicated causeways for resource transit. it’s like airplane stacking, but so much more infuriating

I’ve watched people create fully organized manufacturing structures, complete with enclosed factory walls, multiple floors, and elevators. Whenever I try my brain breaks in the calculation planning process halfway through.

Wth are these ‘friends’ you speak of? I have people that play/aggravate with me, that help/FU builds all the time, and offer constructive/taunting remarks during the session/torture.
Are these the fiends you speak of?

First panel: the start of my factory.
Second panel: what generally ends up happening as I build and realize I didn’t allow nearly enough room for new machines and don’t want to rebuild everything.
My second time through I thought I’d be able to do better. And I kinda did. But by the very end, there was still a bit of spaghetti.

I have picked up more games from ideas from this web site then I care to comment on. LOL Very interesting game and I can see it being a time sump.
That looks eerily familiar. Now, where was that Spaghetti that leads to the bolts again…
Love the fact Tim’s lovely tile is connected to NOTHING…. while sphaghetti co-op industries is moving along (sometimes well, sometimes in a mess)….
Those aren’t friends but frenemies 😉
Like those people in every survival game that just dont care about sorting and dump everything in every box they find.
Depends on if the game has the ability to fetch from chests. If it does then location does not matter if it’s in the area.
