Theorycrafting

Ctrl Alt Del

I love seeing the theorycrafting that comes with every little content drip for a game like this. People get so invested.

I heard there’s a group trying to create the GTA6 map ahead of time from what they see in trailers. Like… what? Pretty sure we’ll have an in-game map when it launches, guys. What are you doing?

Not buying it. I’ve been collecting physical media all my life, so I’m firmly a member of the ‘No disc, no buy’ team. Don’t care if it means I never play it. Was never on my ‘must play’ list.

Yeah, I haven’t bought physical media for awhile now, but that doesn’t mean I’m for them getting rid of it entirely. I wasn’t even planning on getting the game though.

Games are getting so big that they’s have to start shipping out SD/thumbdrives to have physical media, but I understand. I’m a pc gamer so almost everything with me is stram.
I’m still ticked of along with console gamers for all the other shit they’re pulling like deleting your game library for not logging in enough, or trying to put commercials in loading screens

What console is deleting libraries? Because that should be illegal

Sony and their PlayStation Network, although it might be only movies so far. And yes, it should 100% be illegal.

So Sony is deleting movies people bought from like the store? Can they remotely delete it or is it like the Scott Pilgrim game where they can make it so that if you uninstall it you can’t get it back?

I’m 90% certain they’re actually remotely deleting movies from libraries and even claim in court (concerning a similar issue) that a digital game purchase would mean one customer gets the only copy.

sony. They deleted people’s video’s because their license to sell the movies ran out, so they just flat out deleted purchased video’s from people’s accounts, and from what I heard without a refund. (granted I could be wrong). And now they are deleting games/accounts if you don’t log in every so X. I’d look into it, there is alot of shady stuff going on at sony. From pulling stuff from steam/refusing to build for pc, because ‘xbox can now run steam’ supposedly, so they’d lose their console exclusivivity, so rip all pc users, to a physical lawsuit about ‘buying isn’t… Read more »

If you paid for it’s yours, it’s not that complicated, I can get why if it’s a free thing they gave you and you aren’t using it they can delete your account, (Runescape did that to me) but if I paid for it, I should be allowed to use it as I please so long as I have my account.

Yes, you should. Sony disagrees and has gone so far as to argue in court that no reasonable person actually expects that buying the thing means you own it. https://www.eurogamer.net/playstation-reasonable-consumers-know-dont-own-digital-games

The last time I looked into this was probably a decade ago but what I found was, that this really depended on where you live. The crux of the cases was whether a purchase of media ‘exhausted the right of first sale’, if that media was not on a physical carrier. In simple terms, exhausting the right of first sale means that the transaction results in you becoming the owner of this data, whereas not exhausting the right of first sale means that the platform retained ownership of the media. In even simpler terms, in the latter situation you were… Read more »

If the movie in the store, digital or otherwise says “rent” it means I should get a limited time, if it says “buy” I should be allowed to watch it as many times as I damn well please, otherwise why give the cheaper option to begin with

So we used to do this thing called “multiple discs” and that’s how they shipped games that didn’t fit on a single disc. In fact, companies have even done it into the PS5 and XSX generation. It’s not new, it’s not difficult. Nobody would need an SD card or thumbdrive.

I’m not buying it for the simple reason that it’s not coming on PC (for a while). And since I have a huge backlog anyway, I’ll wait till it’s 50% off.

Realistically, it’s the same crap Steam pulled and gamers bent over for when the next shiny release dropped. I howl with laughter when I see people try to hype a $120 piece of software they don’t even own. Welcome to the rage. Whiskey shot glasses now come in liter sizes.

Even if I wasn’t still supporting the ‘No Disck, No Buy’ movement, you couldn’t pay me to buy this game. Sorry but ‘gritty realisim’ looks ugly no matter the gameplay. And it’s so boring. I don’t want to play a game that’s a simulation of real life with fewer rules and a continue screen if I die. I want the fantastical, the creative. I want games where you play as anthropomorphic dragons zooming through spasechips powered by unicorn magic on a quest to save the kidnapped princesses of other worlds before their magic can be harnessed to unlock the gateway… Read more »

Yawn, yet another let’s be a bad guy game, It’s like playing the current news as a game. Hard pass. I wonder if Rockstar will ever innovate again in the GTA franchise. It’s been a heck of a long time since they did anything new .

I mean it is called Grand Theft Auto, so being the “bad guy” has always been the main premise of the series. Or have people really forgotten that GTA is an acronym?

I gotta know, do you get this bothered by the far great number of “let’s be a good guy” games?

Follow up, what kind of game are you expecting from a franchise called “Grand Theft Auto”? It has always been and always will be a franchise about being a criminal doing crimes. What kind of innovation are you looking for?

I’m not interested in playing GTA VI, but dang, this is just bizarre criticism.

The GTA covers all look exactly the same to me in their randomness. If you replaced the number in the title, I literally wouldn’t know the difference.

Not planning to buy it personally and I feel like it’s being set up to fail with the budget in the billions of dollars, consoles getting more expensive, some of the boneheaded moves being done, etc.

First time I’m hit with the delayed comics issue 🙁 I was fine with having to wait for the Analog n Dpad story to unfold, but this one would’ve been a really funny comic to see three months ago 🙁 It is still really funny, don’t get me wrong. But I’m afraid that future stuff will keep feeling outdated right out of the gate. And that’s what I loved in Ctrl Alt Del all these years. Tim’s occasional take of video game’s news. I do understand the need to monetize to make a living out of it, though. I added… Read more »

Yeah…i understand the reasoning, man gotta eat. But i think the delay should be reserved for the comics. For the occassional gaming commentary as the backlog builds up it will lose any sense. Like in a year or two when a page like this comes out its going to be delayed by a year and lost all its relevance

That’s a good idea actually. I don’t know if it’s feasible in terms of flow for Tim, but interrupting the stories’ chapters with the occasional gaming commentary comic so it stays relevent would really be a great way of not alienating the content, and still keeping the value of buying a month or two of Patreon.

Why do people like to bash people who express opinions that don’t affect them one way or another? Seems like a waste of time to me to bash people about opinions that they don’t have anything to do with anyways.
