he’s a robot, he can’t feel emotions, he can’t feel sorry the same way he cant hate or love or be sad, so he apologised for the human’s benefit, but not because he felt something.
Aeons late, but Zeke is pretty well established to have fully-functional sentience. He has emotions, just no preset social or emotional cues that most humans have. The “I learn behavior from observation” is the takeaway here, he’s never had this kind of experience so he wouldn’t instinctively know what to do. And, uh, he fell flat.
Note: this appears to, but does not necessarily, apply to Zeke 2.0
This is right after the miscarriage arc, so presumably he said something insensitive about the unborn child. A joke, comment he didn’t realize was insulting, etc.
Like if he was trying to lighten the mood and said “hey, at least it’s easier on the wallet!” without realizing that it’s deeply insulting.
I agree with the idea that it was probably about the fragility of life sort of thing.
Wait whad he say

He was asking what Zeke said initially to iss Ethan off so bad. Most likely one of his usual “fragile humanity” comments.
