January 5, 2018 by Tim

With the return of the holiday to the pages of the comic last year (and soon to be this year), our official annual Winter-een-mas shirt is back for the first time since 2012.

Isn’t Ethan basically immortal…? Having Lucas go as well seems like a pre-reboot-Ethan level of stupidity.

Yep, all you’d have to do is disable, but not kill, him.

Well, in the storyline where they fought that phase-shifting guy (forgot his name) Ethan blew himself up, then respawned. If he’s packing explosives on him, he can kind of suicide-bomb himself out of most “trapped” scenarios.

… kinda wondering now if the TNT respawns too, just like his clothes?

I think that technically he respawns at save points, so he probably comes back to life with the same stats he had when he “saved”

It’s not TNT, it’s an EMP device. Only dangerous to microelectronics.

He’s referring to the other 159 dangerous items Ethan carries around. And it isn’t necessarily this situation.

Oh good, Ethan has an idea. This can only end happily.

Also, happy Winter-Een-Mas I guess?

I wanna say that it starts on the 15th. Not sure though.

It’s my favorite holiday, as my birthday is smack-dab in the middle of it.

It’s the Winter-een-mas season, though. Season’s greetings!

“So far, none of these ninjas seem to be able to fly”
Later…
“OH NO NO NO THEY’RE FLYING ARRRGGHHH”

My thought exactly. You NEVER say “X seems not to be able to Y” EVER in superhero stories. Unless of course you want X to do Y then they probably never will.

Did they just forget that ninjas commonly use throwing stars?

Besides, I wouldn’t put it past Red Ring Zeke to pack heat. He seems like a practical villain, and wouldn’t be so worried about keeping up themes.

Jetpacks and rocket boots are only impractical and dangerous if you are squishy and not made of metal/plastic/composites. Also, Ethan has an idea and is clearly aware of the potential consequences? THIS CAN’T END BADLY but I can’t wait to see what madness he has in mind.

I think we just got a hint of Chekov’s idiot-go-kablooey from Ethan!

I can’t help but think the EMP plan will backfire by destroying all the phones, completing the robots’ mission for them and causing special trouble for A+DP or vigilantes in general. Surprised Scott didn’t think of that… unless that was his plan all along.

only devices, that are active/on are effected by EMPs… the phones are inactive/off in their packaging and would be perfectly fine!

Nope! EMPs hurt devices by inducing voltage across any long-ish conductor(such as wires, antennae or PCB traces) and either melting surrounding insulators and plastics, or overwhelming transistors and diodes. Phones have surprisingly long coils in their receiver antennae, and would be super vulnerable; however, steel shipping containers would attenuate the pulse fairly well.

It’s Scott; the EMP in question is probably meant to only work on working devices. Otherwise, E&L’s earpieces would be damaged. (They can just shut down the ear pieces then reactivate them)

It could you know shut down the cranes.
But the phones will be safe.
