Most times people think Ethan doesn’t get it, but he does this entire run has shown that Ethan isn’t as.. Nieve as he seems at times. Yeah he’s optimistic and wants to see the good, but he’s also not eyes wide shut so to speak.
It’s great writing Tim.

You can really see by his face in this whole chapter how much Scott is truly struggling with his inner penguin.
I don’t normally my comment but this is the first time I really loved this version of Ethan since the reboot. His entire point was correct and I love that he had the difficult conversation with Scott

Is it just me or did Ethan grow at least 5 inches this chapter ?
It’s a good thing that Zeke would never, in any universe or timeline, keep Ethan helpless but alive while destroying humanity with wave after wave of killer deathbots.

Judging by Ethan in the alternate CAD universe, he’s really not the kind of guy you should be trusting with anything.
I like the way he’s been written, though. The superpower he has can change a person. Time and again dying and coming back to life. Not knowing if you have run out of lives, but not wanting to let the power go to waste. I’m sure he’s a lot more different than “other universe” Ethan.

Wait, are you telling me that Scott failed to destroy Zeke, saw them run away… and just didn’t try to find them? Now of all times, when their judgement is impaired and they’re at their most unpredictable, is when you just leave them at large and do nothing?
There’s a difference between Scott trying to find them alone and Scott trying to find them with the help of one or two superheroes. A massive issue for Scott is lack of mobility, making it much more difficult to efficiently search the city top to bottom. Not to mention that even if Scott did find them… unless Zeke was taken unawares, what would he, alone, be able to do about that? Zeke would just kill him immediately. Even if he did manage it, would he be able to shut Zeke down without any further damage, or would he have to… Read more »

Out of all the years that I’ve been reading this comic, this is the strongest that Ethan has been as a character imo. He is so mature right here and he sounds like a true Hero. Well freaking done Tim.

Of all people, Scott should of been wanting to go after Zeke to at least finish him off. And he’s still not understanding Ethan well enough but maybe this will get though to him. Ethan only wanted to give Zeke and option in his life, not only control or death. Scott seems to of thought Ethan only saw the “shiny” in Zeke and I suspect in a way Lucas did too at first.

this whole arc has shown that ethan.. lives behind a mask. The things that go through his head, he doesn’t let show. He smiles, he goofs.. he is silly.. because if he doesn’t, then its just downhill. So he can’t stop being the goof. But under that, is a slab of serious that he doesn’t want to reveal… unless pushed.

“Fine, but…in case that happens…in case you need to really stop Zeke…”
“Yes?”
“….could you maybe carry a weapon more dangerous than an imbalanced throwing knife?”
Let’s be real, Ethan may be the first in line to stop Zeke, but that fight will quickly progress to whoever is second. 😉
Sounds like a decent compromise to me.

Inner penguin, love it!
That pun was quite fowl.
It was ice cold. Sub polar.
It’s not all black and white
There’s the Ethan we know he can be. I love how he can be absolutely serious and thoughtful when he drops the mask.

my god, are you still talking?
Sounds like a decent compromise in it

I mean, Scott is sitting…
Helping Zeke gets him hard.

Good thing this is not the “alternate” timeline. Otherwise I would have to agree with you.

Fantastic point
Cue Scott pulling out his phone and explaining what he’s been doing to try and track down Zeke.
I agree, it would have been nice to see an “…About that…”
