I like this Scott. He’s not outright dismissive and hostile towards Ethan the way the old one was. He gets to enjoy toying with him more (as evidenced by the smile in panel three). It’s a much more satisfying relationship.

Really enjoying the new series as a whole, in fact, but I like to bring up the details why when they seem relevant.

I totally agree. The characters in this re-run are a lot more interesting.

I blame the penguin or the lack thereof. Also these are older characters; they’ve had even more time to accomadate (NOT misspelled πŸ˜‰ ) to Ethan’s…unique way of life. And Ethan to theirs. This Ethan is still 93.4% lunatic (as opposed to 102.7%) but he is less likely to cause things to spontaneously combust, like that store he wanted to buy a valentine’s gift from. That caught fire. In a way that had nothing to do with Ethan. … … Back on track, it’s a slightly different scenario with big differences. And while the old cast was awesome, this is… Read more »

I agree about the “old cast/new cast” thing. As much as I absolutely loved old CAD, this feels a little more adult, for all the right reasons. This Scott is the best example: quiet, understated, and far more emotive than old Scott ever was. And his relationship with Ethan and Lucas is far more interesting. And he clearly has a story, but we’re not being hit over the head with it. Really love this storytelling. He’s been tinkering with a mask on and off for several strips; it would be cool if whatever is in the box is somewhat along… Read more »

“Scott, why did you rob the bank?”
“I was just taking what I was owed”
a few panels later…
“…I tore his legs off!”
“Ethan, this is how I would look normally. I just made myself robotic legs”
“So why did you become a villain?”
“Why did I- ETHAN. I’m not a villain. I was taking out a withdrawal when my legs malfunctioned and I was stuck walking in one direction while I was still holding my briefcase of cash.”

Is that an original logo on Ethan’s t-shirt? I like it.

If I was Scott, I’d carry a taser or a cattle prod for moments like this when Ethan is annoying like this.

True but it’s not nearly as satisfying as shocking annoying people yourself.

Given everything else Scott’s invented for these guys, I’m kind of surprised he doesn’t have some sort of shield or fence or something that he can just turn on and keep Ethan away with

Yeah I know right?
Like maybe a wall of spikes.
Or an electrified door
Or a sign on his door that says “turn around for free fallout”

I love Scott’s half-smile. It feels so used and knowing to Ethan’s antics and enjoying to make him squirm about this box. xD

Calling it now: Scott ordered an empty box just to mess with Ethans head.

No, in the United Flakes of A Merry Cow.
In this timeline, Matt Groening is president. They decided to cut out the middleman and just have a TV show producer run the country.
