Someone remind me, please. Who is Elijah?

He was this guy who tagged game and gun stores saying “poison” because his brother died in a school shooting where the shooter was doing IRL Fortnite.

A guy with super speed who vandalized several game stores and gun shops with the words “Poison Trafficker” after his little brother was killed in a school shooting. Tim linked to the start of the story arc at the bottom of the last comic.

How exactly can they reach a peaceful resolution there?

Best they can do would be to convince him to calm down to de-escalate his future actions, but that won’t bring back the murder victims.

They failed to change his mind last time, so I can’t imagine them being so successful this time that Elijah would surrender himself to the police.

By peaceful they likely mean “turn himself in” as opposed to “engage in a violent confrontation with police.”

Yeah, but he is now a serial killer, there isn’t much going back from that.
What could possibly change his mind enough to convince him to turn himself to the police to face decades behind the bars?

The only other option is to go kinda fantasy and get him to lay low and focus on non-murder heroics. For instance, a dude with super speed would be one hell of an asset in a school shooting. If you can move so fast you can’t be seen, then bullets would seem to be suspended in air to you. No one would be able hit you and no one would spot him. With such speed, an active shooter will be real easy to take down, tie up, and hand delivered to the police without a single witness to ID him… Read more »

Why would he do either when he can just be in Bolivia in 2 minutes? While lighting fire to every game store along the way.

Unless I’m completely misunderstanding him, Lucas intends to use Megagame (Thad’s digs) as bait for Elijah. My only problem with that plan is putting civvies in danger. If Elijah did indeed turn to lethal means, this puts Thad et al in the crosshairs of a murderer.

Knowing Lucas, he will have taken extra precautions not to endanger civilians, although as they say “no plan survives contact with the enemy”…

I *think* it’s the other way round, using Thad to make their own game store a target.

I’m not sure how that would work, but it’d be a lot easier to stake out (and set a trap at) their own store than at Megagame, and less dangerous for civilians too.

… I’m not a fan of “I didn’t tell Ben because this time we can help”, which sounds oxymoronic to my ears? So maybe I’m giving Lucas too much credit 😅

i like that idea.. but still.. relying on 1. Thad to act as they hope, 2. the “suspect” who is likely escalating because of trauma to act in a specific way when they can be very much unpredictable. if there is a third reason here it would be the tipping point of yo. we are relying on way to many moving parts all to work perfectly. and hopefully not get people killed.

Yeah, they could share the intel with Ben, while still trying their plan. Well, running it by Ben maybe, or someone else experienced with this kind of stuff. (I mean, deescalating etc, perhaps a police negotiator or criminal psychologist – Ben could probably get them in contact with one).

Especially since honesty is also important in relationships. I’m fairly sure Ben won’t be happy about being effectively lied to (if by omission), if he finds out. (which the rules of drama dictate he will)

yeah. this is very much fringe heroism. best laid plans often meet unplanned ends.

Thad is the guy who runs the other game store right?

I wonder, if Analog and D-Pad set some bait for Elijah and he doesn’t show, should I say that he ghosted them OR that he wiggled his way out of that date?

Dollars to nuts that it’s not Elijah but somebody learned his backstory and is now trying to frame him.

That’s the problem with dealing with a speedster. If he wants you dead, you’re dead. If he doesn’t WANT you to have a chance? You won’t get one. He could easily just shank both of them in the blink of an eye and then be gone, before they even know they’re dead.

Assuming they use their own store as bait, though, they have the home ground advantage, and can lay traps out. Those, assuming electronic sensors etc., can be faster than human reaction time.

I wonder if this villan will target Game Haven when Ethan is there and kill him, and in turn prove that Ethan still has his powers.

Did the schedule change, or is this just a Patreons get comics earlier in the day than the rest of us do now kind of thing?

Not complaining, just asking. Sometimes Tim’s upload just gets forgotten/messed up, stuff happens. But with his post about changes it is difficult to be sure what’s going on.

It is very clearly a mean to increase his incomes.

I mean, I have been refreshing this page like 20 or 100 times since 9 AM Paris Time. And each time, it loads some ads.

And as the saying goes, it is the little clicks that make the big incomes !
