Yeah, sad fact. Majority of preorders offers something that is just for advanced start of game. And sometimes rarely you get something cool that makes you part of exclusive club.
I’d call that a good thing. It’d be a rather dirty P2W tactic if pre-order items actually gave you a significant bonus throughout the entire game instead of just making the early levels easier/quicker.
I suppose you did not preorder Street Fighter to get cool bearded Ryu costume. Or maybe Xenoverse for classic Tao Pai Pai pillar. Both of which give no p2w benefits.
Now, if it provided a lasting cosmetic benefit, that’d be spiff. Like, okay, your starter weapon is shinier than the standard starter weapon… and you’ve replaced it 10 min in. But then you throw it in the magic wardrobe and can, like, keep the particle effect or something.

Not sure if those would exist, or if he is screwing with them.

Also, I wouldn’t be suprised if Scott has implanted onto the internet and app stores a series of games which subliminally, with the power of POSITIVE *and microtansactions* THINKING, is making a portion more than the taxes.
Because Scott isn’t just a guy in a wheelchair or a guy with a demented penguin, he is an Ace Coder.

That look on their faces when they realized they paid extra money for something they will use only up to level 5/6 of probably like 99/100 levels. xD

Ok, so now Immortal Thirst is Vampires in Space? Why hasn’t anyone made this game yet?
Damn this isn’t a real game? I was kinda looking forward to finding out what the game was and buying it. We sure it isn’t a parody of that new dark souls game where you play vampires?
I assume that when he went to go rescue Ted (about right after he accepted the ad for a roomate from Ethan and Lucas, but before he moved in), Scott failed horribly and wounded himself, losing control of his legs. Presumably (if this is the case) Scott decided to accept the ad for other reasons, then while in the 2.0 timeline he simply decides to go with it and stay, in the 1.0 timeline he has Ted and then decides not to move for the sake of camouflage. Though now that I think about it…if Lilah wasn’t there for Ethan… Read more »
But Tim…
That is the whole reason why Scott moved in with E&L 1.0. Therefore, no Ted means no Scott logically speaking. And an awful lot of instances which are critical to the plot (Barry retiring, Ethan gets the store; the moving to another place; other little minutiae I have no clue about) are all dependant on Lilah.
So I assume some plot holes WERE butterfly effected away, but other persist…
I mean, the game store I could care less about. Not much less. I assume Zeke based ones will be filled soon though…
@Hamstermer
The story has been rebooted with the superhero storyline. All of the prior events did not take place. The characters are the same, but the situations and history are different.
This is kind of a tangent storyline concerning Ethan and Lucas. Not sure this is cannon, and considering how inconsequential it was, it doesn’t matter one way or the other. But the main storyline left of with Lucas about to face-off against Zeke, who appears to be some sort of supervillain.

I want to see more of Scott. I love his style – quiet, introverted, intelligent, with a sharp edge, a killer wit, and a quiet world-weariness. Everything you need in a super vill- *cough* erm, coworker. Coworker. Yeah.
When I first started reading CAD as a teen ages ago, it was Lucas who I identified with; now, it’s Scott. Really happy to see this direction that’s going with his character.
… and yeah, again – preorder bonuses stink, unless they’re actual physical stuff.
Except for when it is a dinky figurine that breaks on contact with human skin, or a coin made of plastic with a nice decal. Some are nice but others look like a Hasbro knockoff reject. And those tend to be impossible to keep intact when little children decide to mess with them.
But other preorder bonuses are pretty neat.
Yeah, but usually you can recoup your losses, or make a profit, by selling that limited pre-order item on ebay later on. There are always collectors, unless the game sucks.

@Tim, I have to say this is where You really shine. Your narrative is best when it concerns those guys playing computer games. The other stuff You do ain’t bad, that’s not what I’m saying at all, but this line and old CAD had the best twists and light and funny dialogues. Just love them and hope we’ll see much more of that in the future again.
Eventually someone will make it.
Granted, it is about a crazy hobo with a god complex who is in a desert, and all he has is salty food and liquor, but it is still called Immortal Thirst.

First I do love the put down on p2w. I prefer cosmetic preorders. But get vexed when different stores get different versions. I am talking to you CoV. It is so hard to choose. As to storyline preference. . While I like the original story. I get why the plug was pulled. Ethan needed to grow up a little and be slightly better grounded in the real world. The numbered players fill the weird role better. But I like all of the other three story types. These three running a game store is funny slice of life. The superhero arcs… Read more »
@Tim On a completely different topic, why is Scott in a wheelchair?
I am quite happy of the return of Ethan and Lucas (and hopefully soon Lilah as well) but I don’t remember Scott being in a wheelchair back in the old exploding timeline, what has happened to him?
This is not the old timeline. This is a new timeline. The characters are similar, but their lives are stories up to this point have been completely different. Why Scott is in a wheelchair will be revealed in time.
How long till a HUGE banner gets put up saying that this is not the old timeline? You probably have it saved somewhere so you can just cut and paste it into here you have type it so many times now.
I gotta be patient with people. The characters look mostly the same, it’s going to take time and more storylines for it to sink in for everyone what’s different in this run. 🙂

I still feel burned from the Fable 3 Pre-orders, something like 5 different pre-order bonuses and who has the money to by 5 copies of the game..not to mention some of those weapons had game long uses, I still regret not getting the Channeler, and it took 3.5 years before those items were made available for purchase.

I agree with M3f whole heartedly. I’m not about trying to dictate to an artist how they should do their art, but I enjoy this more than the players or any of the other stuff. Chef Brian is pretty awesome too though.
Chef Brian is mediocre. That guy Cook Bryan on the other hand, now he is awesome.

So I was re-reading Analog and D-Pad and in the 4th issue they said that Ethanol had a sister named Charlie. Did she replace Rory or do they both exist?
Yeah, sad fact. Majority of preorders offers something that is just for advanced start of game. And sometimes rarely you get something cool that makes you part of exclusive club.

Agree wholeheartedly
I suppose you did not preorder Street Fighter to get cool bearded Ryu costume. Or maybe Xenoverse for classic Tao Pai Pai pillar. Both of which give no p2w benefits.
Seeing as I haven’t played a SF game since SNES, and I have less than zero interest in Xenoverse, you would be right on both counts.
Now, if it provided a lasting cosmetic benefit, that’d be spiff. Like, okay, your starter weapon is shinier than the standard starter weapon… and you’ve replaced it 10 min in. But then you throw it in the magic wardrobe and can, like, keep the particle effect or something.

Why is Scott in a wheelchair? What did I miss?
For the reboot, Scott is in a wheelchair. That’s how he was introduced. It hasn’t been explained why yet.
There is no Ted. Never was a Ted. Why Scott is in a wheelchair, and how he’s connected to Ethan and Lucas will be revealed in future storylines.
But Tim…

What about Soul Calibur for console differences?
Yoda vs. Darth Vader…hm….
Hmmmm….
HMMMMM….
I happily did not own a console and did not have to choose.
Besides it is obvious you have to have Vader.

It…*gag* really helps…
*wheeze*
Should have…gotten Yoda…

Ethan’s face is getting really derpy lately.
Black Hole Fangs…won’t you bang…and wash away the pain…
Because the cover of that song sucked harder than a vampire with the +2 bonus from Laser Fangs
It was like it had +3 more suckiness
