If you’re unhappy with the way things are going, you don’t have to read it. No one’s forcing you to stick around. You have the freedom to leave if you want.

I agree that the CAD 2.0 reset was the right call. The comic, plot wise, is still running strong. I’m glad you feel the same. 🙂

“Also CAD 2.0 has now been running longer than 1.0”

Don’t just say that without warning

I still remember how for some reason 1.0 ending felt like a gut punch. I’ve enjoyed the comic since but I’ve never come close to connecting with the characters in the same way

Same here – loved 1.0 – but 2.0 hits – better – for me. Not to diminish 1.0, but to say that the reboot seems to have freed you to explore some new things you clearly are great at!

CAD 2.0 has been running longer, but does it actually have more comics to it?

When CAD 1.0 was a thing I don’t think there weren’t as many other storylines going on at the same time.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: a person who can hold a grudge for a whole decade! Over a web-comic, none the less.

CAD1 wrapped up things fairly neatly though at least, most online comics tend to die mid-story.

Nah that’s more of a Waller thing.

Eh.

Marvel/DC aren’t capable of writing realistic civilian/military populations in their comics anymore which is one of the reasons why Waller is so one-note.

Zeke probably would have called out the regret at not having his organ’s shortcomings called out to be another organic shortcoming in itself.

Clearly had some time to think about it. Conflicted still, but mostly aligned with Ethan for now.

Hi, I have a Ctrl-Alt-Del 1.0 Book set (physical) to sell in germany, may I advertise it here? I’m moving soon and don’t want to throw it away. It’s heavy and has no place in my future new home.

Let’s see if links work here:
https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/ctrl-alt-del-cad-comic-comic-set-1-0-comic-box/2810997259-234-5665

otherwise search on Kleinanzeigen for ctrl alt del or cad-comic I guess.

We can still talk about the price of course.

eBay may be a good option as well.

Oh, he’s finally realized his “but what if it falls into the wrong hands?!?” schtick works with other superheroes, at the very least Ethan and Lucas, what with their theoretically-replicable accident that gave them powers.

Difference is, if the government said to a superhero, “go kill this guy,” the superhero can just say no. If they reprogram the robot to do the same, the robot must do it.

Humans can be reprogrammed too.

While what you say is true, it is much harder to do than what Hollywood would make us think. Let’s hope Zeke is as hard to reprogram as humans are.

Sadly, as we’ve seen in real life far too many times, there’s no end of people who will jump at the chance to ‘serve their country’ if it’s their favored leader giving the commands.

However, Zeke couldn’t be programmed to follow orders, only threatened with a killswitch. Whatever quirk or superpower gave them sentience also prevents them from having hardcoded instructions, because such a thing would end up getting rewritten.

I don’t think it would be possible to reprogram Zeke, without destroying his capabilities.

It’s Chekhov’s Starfield Poster. You know, as the saying goes, “if in the first act you have hung a Starfield Poster on the wall, then in the following one it should fall down and painfully hit the toes of the antagonist”

I like to think they did it deliberately. “Eh, it’s Starfield, no one really cares at this point.”

He didn’t like the dangerous-to-existence-of-mankind mindless murderbot but he accepts the dangerous-to-existence-of-mankind sentient murderbot

There is a reason why people got agitated about “slaves / Jews / … are not humans” whenever they tried to abuse / rob / kill them, and even for animals many people get upset when others say that they have feelings: “Their brain is different!!!!!” – yes, it contains proportionally more of the ancient structures where we locate our feelings.

TL;DR: Believing that the other is not sentient / doesn’t feel like we do is a strong enabler for abuse.
