Plushie Interest Campaign is live!
We have 10 days to see if we have 200 people that want an 8-inch, squishable, loveable Zeke of their very own, to sit in the living room/office/bedroom silently judging your human meat shell!
Right now you show your interest by pledging $2; if we hit our mark, that $2 will be credited against the cost of the plushie. If we don’t hit our mark, you get your $2 back.
If this goes well, we’ll pick other characters to try and plushify!
He’s almost too understanding.
Just waiting for the other shoe to drop, because this is a webcomic and we can’t have that nice thing forever.
This. it’s almost TOO perfect.
Not sure what is ‘too perfect’. Lucas is still in rough water. Personally he still needs to get a grip on being open to a serious relationship. His principles are also under attack, as cops are an agrred on forbidden fruit. It was his idea. He knows this can become a **major** problem downbthe line if they go superheroing again. Even without the principles it is a potential friction point with Ethan. Ethan will probably want to support Lucas in his new view on relationships, do it might be all right. That being said, Ethan has missed his shot with… Read more »
He probably had similar thoughts in previous relationships. Working as a policeman is dangerous, after all.
Yesterday my neighbor suddenly collapsed and I was called over to help. We tried CPR but unfortunately to no avail, even though the ambulance arrived in a few minutes. Then the crew asked me to stay because they needed to call the police, etc., and having someone not hysterical around helped to speed up the process… so I’ve had the pleasure of chatting with police officers for like 5 hours. I feel that police officers meet SO MUCH IRL cr*p first-hand that they need to handle things such as this in a stride, otherwise their job would break them mentally… Read more »
No. Firemen, nurses depending where they work, emergency doctors and stuff see all a lot of crap too, and yet, they dont act like cops.
Firemen act like firemen because they’re firemen; nurses act like nurses because they’re nurses; emergency doctors act like emergency doctors because they’re emergency doctors; police officers act like police officers because they’re police officers. No shorting of the other professions mentioned.
Save the ACAB attitude for when cops are actually behaving badly; otherwise, kindly don’t be an asshat.

Save the ACAB attitude for when cops are actually behaving badly; otherwise, kindly shut it.
No, ACAB is always, even when a cop is acting nice. And there’s so many reasons that it really is ALL COPS even the ones that look ok on the face of it, and no I’m not going to elaborate here because given your response you probably already know them all and if you don’t there’s more eloquent people like me that can be found who have explained it
hmmm… calling an entire specific group of people bad just because of some bad apples… does this sound familiar? maybe don’t perpetuate what you are trying to stop
You’re right, the professions are different…When firefighters perceive danger they run towards it and help people. When police officers perceive danger, like a black man selling cigarettes or using a counterfeit $20, they kill them.
You could make the argument that police have a more dangerous job than those doctors and nurses, but you’d still be wrong because more healthcare workers are killed by patients each year than police officers are killed by suspects.
Now being a police officer’s spouse? There’s a dangerous job.
dangerous indeed, especially for the person you’re dating
The other shoe will probably be him being a guy who takes his job very seriously and cannot imagine a relationship between a cop and a vigilante. At least that’s what I think would be quite obvious. Let’s see where this goes. 🙂
Is it just me or is there an ‘is’ missing from one of Ben’s last sentences?
“All any of us can give (is) what we’re ready to give, when we’re ready to give it”
Am I just dyslexia-ing
Difference between speaking language and written language. It’s fine and unambiguous as it is, technically the _is_ could be added to further clarify the sentence but it’s not needed here.
Really? To me it also looks incorrect this way. Without the ‘all’ it would work, but the sentence as is does seem to need the extra _is_.
It looks all right to me, though English isn’t my first language. The is can be added or left out. The way it’s written is a bit shorter, removing a mental pause that gels better to my mind. Even if it is incorrect it can be an artistic choice, where every dot or comma can change meaning, impact and more.
Depends. There are phrasings that don’t have the extra ‘is’, and using them can indeed be an artistic choice. However, with how the rest of the sentence was constructed the added ‘is’ was actually necessary in this case. (Or the ‘all’ needed to go, or some other change.)
It is also fixed now, so not sure which version was up when you looked. .
But this is not a school essay or court proceedings… It is casual talk, and IRL people don’t always speak with perfect syntax and perfect grammar. And that includes native speakers.
It could be a typo, or it could be a quirk of how that character talks. English is known for natives mumbling parts of words or sentences into oblivion and that is often a major tell between native speakers and proficient foreign speakers.
You are correct, it doesn’t make sense. Needs to be fixed
Wow, it got fixed.
Oh no… He’s a villain, isn’t he?
Had exactly the same thought. I’m betting on Deathblood.
I’ve had that theory since he was first introduced. Glad I’m not the only one.
I hate that type of storytelling. That every character introduced can’t be their own and is secretly connected to the other part of the storyline.
It’s a lot more satisfying for this guy to just be who he is.
I also hate it.
THANK YOU. Especially in comics, where you have more time to flesh out characters and add in new ones where needed. It is an overdone trope that someone causing even the mildest strife is also a super villain. It might be a big surprise a few hundred years ago in story telling, but these days people stub their toes against a brick, and in act 3 it this brick is revealed to be a sentient all powerful brick from the evil dimension, hell bend on showering the universe with bear-spider hybrids. Who could have predicted that? /s Tim has so… Read more »
well, he’s a cop, so, we allready know this.
I wish the plushie campaign were for a different character, since I love the concept but already have a Zeke.
Remember the ‘A’ in ACAB stands for ‘All’.
“Are Cops All B*st*rds?”
All Cannibals Appreciate Barbecue.
…the *first* ‘A’…
All Covergeneralizations Are Bstupid.
every cop enforce a shitty, violent and crooked system, no exception, that’s their job
Your boos means nothing I’ve seen what make you cheer. If you were able to answer you would have do it anyway. Bootlicking at its finest.
Thank you for the input, Dysgenic Jim.
using genes as an insult to defend police, typical n*azi
15 bootlickers didnt like your comment so far
But I do remember, because I saw what they do and how they do it.
“All Communists are Bastards?” agreed
Your kind of ppl is 100% of the time unable to define what communism means anyway. Cheering for the cops like uneducated people.
Please don’t be a villain, just be a nice understanding guy who is ready to wait for Lucas to get his shit together.
My money’s on Deathblood.
I’m gonna laugh if it turns Ben is a super himself or is an Analog a D-Pad fanboy. That would break Lucas’s mind.
The moustache has given me villain vibes from the beginning and it only has gotten stronger
I’m beginning to “smell the poop”. That guy is way too nice, it’s starting to be scary.
If that guy is a plot from the Troll, Lucas is going down…
I really hope there’s no ‘but then’ moment with this. It’s almost too good to hope for but this level of honestly and forthrightness should be something TO hope for.
Challenge! Introduce Ben to Ethan. THAT will determine if this can be a long term thing or not.
The last time Lucas tried to have his cake and eat it too he met towel guy at his girlfriend’s door.
My guess is that Tim will tell new stories.
This is either going to be extremely wholesome, or it’s going to end VERY badly.
I suppose Ben is here to stay. Also, I don’t think he’s vigilant or a supervillain.
YET.
It would be implausible if he suddenly revealed to be connected to the super world. But, if this relationship affects him in some ways… Causing a consistent interaction with this world, pushing small lever inside him that he weren’t aware of until now… Well, now it hardly a coincidence, is it?
