Back when Zeke captured Ethan, Lucas and Scott traveled around the city in a car, trying to ping his location. Could that not work? If they only have enough components to do two prototypes, couldn’t Ethan and Lucas just kind of comb the city?
And character ink outlines are too broad, makes them look like cutouts pasted on a scene, above the scene instead of part of the scene

Fairly certain that tampering with cell towers is not legal, Mr. Superhero. You could argue that it’s just a minor misdemeanor, but I’d like to make a gentle reminder that Analog and D-Pad once went after a guy who was merely leaving graffiti on store windows.
While yes it’s illegal, he’s not talking about modifying the signal from the towers in any way, just using them to track ZK. It wouldn’t (if done the way he’s thinking) have any impact on anyone else. Whereas graffiti is technically damaging property and will negatively impact folks who have to clean tags off their storefronts etc.
Note that I’m not attempting to demonise graffiti just trying to rationalize this apparent discrepancy in morals
Everything they are doing is illegal. Its just that the cops are so overwhelmed with people that can drag them into another dimension, they look the other way when a hero does it.
Up until Zeke’s capture, the stakes were really low-key in general: Some graffiti dude, some guy who likes pink dildos and makes fun of super heroes, and even the evil robot army just destroyed some smartphones and a tablet.
They aren’t exactly on Captain Prime level here.

You have to love the fact that Ethan is self aware of his own short comings.

A federal judge would still call it pirating the signal, which is a federal charge. A Prosecutor would be rubbing his hands over it, trust me. My father got a cease and desist order simply because he screwed up and hooked his VCR to the antenna rather than the TV and didn’t figure it out for a few days. (Early days of satellite/cable, they were LOOKING for pirating) It was dropped after I explained things to the judge and made sure he didn’t do it again (used lock-tite on the cable ends) My father isn’t tech savy, used to call… Read more »

Is that last panel showing us a rendering experiment? If so, I like it. Looks great. If it’s not, then I’m surprised how much your hand drawing looks like a precisiely-rendered scene.
I’m not sure I would call it an “experiment,” I’ve been building/using 3D environments for five years now… Zeke has sat on this exact throne in dozens of prior comics.
Don’t sweat it, it’s a storeroom, a single light source is going to cast heavy shadows. And wash out any textures like box sides. I learned that tinkering with blender using it as a CAD program… Stopped trying that, yes it makes great 3D models, but it’s like using a heavy gaming computer just as a calculator…

I’m going to say, even if I do think they stand out, I value Tim’s choice to experiment. He wanted to draw an actually geometrically complex object made up of a lot of easy to define primitives: so he used a tool that was faster and way more accurate than doing it all in his head. Maybe in the future he “rotoscopes” it so the shading is more in his hands, but I’m all for visual artists using whatever tools they have to streamline production ESPECIALLY for things that are background/objects/simples. Like I don’t want Ethan’s head to be a… Read more »

Tim. You are one of four webcomics I still read and the only one I read from day one to now. We have been psn buddies (we’ve only played together twice) for a decade. Your worlds from start to now have lifted my highest times and was part of what sustained me at my lowest. I’ve never given you a dime (largely due to being broke when you had things I wanted to buy ^_^), but I’ve always given you my time. Even though we differ largely politically now but watching you grow as an artist, writer and comedian has… Read more »

I’d imagine that Scott disabled that as an option after they captured ZK. Wouldn’t want the Weebmaster using the same tactics to track them down.
With todays gas prices, maybe not a good idea.
The empty throne of the absent king. Nice touch.
Shadows are too dark, or sharp. Plus, no labels, texture, and clean. Mail is filthy. Thank you for volunteering to make a pattern template for Tim.

As a matter of fact, going around the city and tampering/fixing tampered radio towers is something you do in several open world games. Only.

Never played a Spider-Man, Batman, or Watch_Dogs game, huh?
Besides, they are probably on Verizon and Zeke is obviously going to me on the Google Network, so the cell tower idea wouldn’t work. /Not serious
