After all that, I’d laugh if it turns out the he’s been in the police database for ages and Ben already knew everything long before the arrow incident.
This would be a much better twist if we had any hint that Ben feels held back by his lawful duties, but his only dissatisfaction on the matter is depiction of his job in media.
I went back and checked on Deathblood’s character design. He seemed a bit taller and much more muscular than Ben’s character, so unless bulking up is one of his powers I don’t think so.
That was my first instinct way back. My squirrel brain thinks he’s Deathblood.

Ben’s superpower is always managing to find a natural way to bring up Lucas’s secret
The problem is that Domino’s luck was at the expense of others around her. So that would actually be in line with the past trope “all Lucas’ partners cause him big problems”.

We’ve had so much bad stuff happen to our heroes in the last few arcs it would lessen the impact of a “dark twist” centered around Ben at this point, but simultaneously immensely heighten the effect of of Ben genuinely being one of the “good guys”.
Here’s to Ben joining the permanent supporting cast.

My bet: he’s gonna confess about his ex, explaining the whole “letting someone in” complex and trusting issues, but not reveal his secret identity (which, as people say, might not be as secret as he thinks it is. The is no reason for the police not to be able to identify superheros that act long enough, and Ben won’t be the first one to check his love interest in a classified database before having contact)

At this point he’s a dick with the “innocent” questioning if he actually knows about the superhero thing.
Because then the behavior is borderline toxic. “I know something about you that you aren’t ready to talk to me about yet, so let me just go on and on and on with throwing hints at you until i pressured you enough to come forth”
Not to mention the gaslighting if he actually said the things during the dinner that he corrected afterwards.

There is no way surfing was a subtle hint that he knew all along. I don’t think he has any clue at the moment, but Lucas needs to confess anyway because his brain is literally melting.

I honestly think Ben has no idea, that the hints are Lucas’s imagination. Yeah Lucas reached out a moment before that girl was about to be hit by a car but its a rather natural reaction.

I don’t know if you read these comments, Tim. But I just wanna say as a first time commenter/long time reader: your work has improved by leaps and bounds since the reboot. The characters, the storytelling, the ART. This one especially is gorgeous. That LIGHTING. My god. Bravo. I know you’ve had haters and at one time I could have been one of them, but I’m glad you ignored them and kept on keeping on. Just had to get that out there.
