I love how both consoles disregard Nintendo as any kind of threat, yet Nintendo is just constantly there doing its own thing. Usually to pretty solid effect.
That was the result of the emulator actually packaging Nintendo’s proprietary code in order to allow the emulator to function. Most emulators either write their own code, or have the user download it from the internet separately, in order to prevent that kind of backlash. If anything, it was the dolphin guys that were the idiots for bringing attention to themselves in the first place. Word of advice, if you’re doing something that you’re not supposed to be doing, and you’re getting away with it. Don’t go advertising yourself! I have no idea what happened with Yuzu though. By the way, I don’t remember what that code thing was. I think it was kind of like the bios, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t the bios. Something to do with decryption keys I think.
The Nintendo folks didn’t aim for expensive hardware and they made it their thing to serve something different than Sony and MS. Ultimately, they will probably be fine. But both of MS and Sony have such deep pockets, they won’t be going anywhere either.

I don’t understand the muffin ref, but the only ‘new’ Nintendo news I can find to laugh at is the new ‘bad word’ list in the switch software update.
Would you please share the actual name of the emulator ?
I found zero relevant result about “muffin”, and the closest I got was a N64 emulator called “mupen64plus”, which I guess could be confused with “muffin” in a bad quality radio stream.
But I haven’t found any article mentioning that mupen64plus was in legal troubles at the moment.
So like the other people who got downvoted, I’m puzzled and would like help to find more info.
“Muffins aren’t ugly cupcakes, cupcakes are pretty muffins?”
That’s about all I found.

This blasted diplomatic dance portrayed here makes me realize how much these mergers have destroyed a good, proper console fight. I want a battle on specs and interface, not on who owns the most exclusives! I’m ready for console-NATO to drop the hammer on the greenies.

With Microsoft Gaming buying things like Activision-Blizzard, it’s easy to think of them as the big dog in gaming. It’s harder to remember they’re #3 behind Tencent (#2) and Sony Interactive Entertainment (#1). Sony makes almost $2 billion more revenue than Microsoft.
And that’s just the gaming branches. When you look at the larger companies, Microsoft has a revenue of $211.9B while Sony pulls in $874B.
The company just seems less massive because it’s CEO isn’t as rich as Bill Gates.
When you look at the companies as a whole, Sony has a market cap of 107 billion (down this year) versus Microsoft’s 3 trillion XD So Sony IS less massive/valuable. Microsoft is literally the most valuable company in the world. They’re not the big dog in gaming (they’re losing pretty steadily), but you can’t argue that as a company they’ve kind of won. Gaming feels more like a hobby for them at that point XD
I hate this argument as much as I hate the “Pokemon is the biggest franchise in the world” argument. Yea, the company as a whole has a lot of money. It doesn’t ALL get funneled into video game development. When it comes to Microsoft (and Pokemon), the games themselves are not the top priority, and I would argue, not even a priority at all. They would still thrive off their other sectors if their gaming division just vanished.
But they do like money and they do want to have gaming as part of their ecosystem. Their OS was, more than any other desktop/laptop OS, aimed at gamers. Having games that they can easily consume because they are written by the same company as the OS… that is a strategy.
Even if Sony is taking it more seriously, it’s not hurting MS as an entirety while they bleed a bit in games to continue buying up catalogs and properties. I think they have a longer strategy, but just having games in the MS umbrellas is a win for them.
I think you slipped a decimal point, or are using their reported profit in yen as revenue in USD or something. Sony made about $85B 2023, $88B 2022, and $84B 2021. Microsoft made about $211B, $198B, and $168B respectively in those same years.
True, Sony does make more money, but they aren’t the most profitable because Sony also wastes more money with those 3rd party exclusives they constantly pay developers in an attempt to smash down their competitors. They’d probably be more profitable if they just let these games go on all platforms and still make the same amount of money. Microsoft could potentially do better than Sony, but they need to crack down on their studios and ensure they aren’t being stupid. I.E. Don’t let Blizzard constantly redo things constantly just to get that ‘Blizzard Quality,’ and end up wasting a ton… Read more »

Is he listening DMCA drama or something? If it is about emulators i don’t think they are in any position to judge (Sony vs. Bleem) they always have been on grey area of legality. Speaking of old news there was Atari vs ColecoVision about addon on ColecoVision that let people play Atari Games on it. Nowadays people only talks about the Nintendo one over and over again. Sure DMCA sucks but if you look into it you know what you can or cannot do. One main key is NEVER use something like Patreon or Steam to share anything that is… Read more »

as a reference my head went in a completely different direction, and thought it was a reference to Princess Peach Showtime, and the Patisserie parts of it
to be fair, Patisserie stages make either cookies or cakes, no muffins

There are so many ways to ruin the texture of a good muffin, and those who don’t have texture aversions insist on making the awful combos some of the most popular flavors
Best consistency I’ve had from grocers is the banana chocolate chunk from costco, but local shops always manage to make some good ones
What kind of muffins?
Chocolate chip… you cant have any.
You know, I don’t even want to know…
Let’s just see how this plays out.
Sesame seed or I’m gone.
Nah, chocolate chip.
Banana Nut.
Blueberry
Corn or bust.
We either go red velvet or there will be another kind of red in this table.
Carrot cake!
Turtle muffins.
Strawberry Shortcake

you mean lawsuits?
I hear their ninjas got in touch with the PC’s Steam leadership and forced them to basically exterminate dolphins.

Gonna be fun when the Switch 2 enters the battlefield.

Do a search for “nintendo arguing about muffins”
I still have no clue, can you elaborate?
Muffin is a Nintendo emulator, I believe, that they are shutting down via lawsuit.
Would you please share the actual name of the emulator ?

The current big emulator lawsuit was about citrus fruits, not baked goods. I can’t find any news related to muffins.
I can find no reference to a muffin emulator of any kind
I found an emulator called “Mupen64,” but I don’t think the joke is as deep as that.
I think it’s just, for the other two this is an intense battle to the death, and the Switches’ main concern right now is muffins.

3 trillion and being completely unable to make good games is pretty sad

But not, perhaps, unheralded. They spent a lot of time making poor OSes so it just follows the pattern.

Banana Chocolate Chunk is SUCH a good muffin…it is the only one I buy anymore (as opposed to making myself.)
I’d buy there muffins, but one of them could cause insulin shortages and one could feed a small town…. my lord they are huge.
Is there a game that features the shooting of rocks? Or muffins in a significant way?
