I think in this case, the accident would go like this: 1) She goes with a weapon, just in case. 2) She doesn’t really wanna shoot anyone, much less a supposedly good guy that Cort cares for. 3) BUT she’s not sure she can trust him. And even if he’s trustworthy, can he keep up his word when he’s not even a high ranking authority? 4) This makes the situation so fragile, that she might end up shooting him in the heat of the moment. All it takes, is Quel making just one slight wrong move. Something that triggers the… Read more »

Alright then. This day Nyrah woke up and chose violence. Must’ve been those weird sausages…
That thing was awesome. A truly alien food prep method.

Smart girl, she see’s the sheer improbability of this fleet showing up just so conveniently all of a sudden without any kind of nostalgia history filter. We know Quell didn’t intentionally lead them, but Cort is making choices that impact others without their vote on the matter. Specifically someone who has been royally screwed by the Federation after going to them after escaping untold lifetimes of hell inducing PTSD. Cort made a very serious call without explaining or including Nyrah in that decision, now that is going to bite him in the ass. My money is on the story branch… Read more »
I mean, he DID consult them before making this choice. They didn’t exactly agree, but they talked out his plan to contact Quel before he did it, and he didn’t do it behind anyone’s back. Granted, the fleet changes things, but it’s not like he was edging them out of that decision. He had to make a snap decision to either completely change the plan or stick to it, and there wasn’t really time to talk it out first. Nyrah is the one about to make a huge decision without consulting Cort, and I suspect it’ll bite them ALL in… Read more »
I never said that he led them, I said that Nyrah see’s the sheer improbability of what happened happening and is looking at said situation through the eyes of someone that has been tortured, and suffered for hundreds of years.
Even Cort thought it was fishy as hell for an entire fleet to just so happen to appear where it did when it did.

It’s always kinda funny reading the extreme predictions in the comments. I wonder what is going to happen, but I don’t see people dying any time soon. Maybe I’m too much of an optimist.
Uh oh, this could get ugly
Ohhh…is this going with her accidentally killing Quell?
“Accidentally”
Going straight for the weapons doesn’t make it seem like it would be an accident

He didn’t lead them at all, the starcaster did. His signal being on just allowed them to realize he was there once they were in the system

You’re probably right, but not for any rational in-universe reasons. We all know how plot armor skews probabilites even in the grittiest stories.
Please be a trick by Speck to put her in a “time out” by locking her there.
Way to go Nyrah! Finally someone speaking some sense! Hang the Federation, build something better than oppression in its stead.
That’s right! She Can shoot Cort now and he’ll grow back somewhat.
