RotK was full of great scenes, but that was one at the midnight premiere that got everyone cheering.

Mmm,
The problem is, atm, they ARE his crew
Cort’s about to be drafted into the infantry and Speck is going to disappear into the ether along with the Aphelion
What’s needed is a good reason to keep Cort with Speck, along with the Marshal riding shotgun on Cort’s slack ass (unless we want a military themed story)
Time for Cort to prove he can earn his keep as a feckless rogue under Federation overall command
I think the Marshal should croak it to motivate him to fight. Losing the mentor is a break or standout moment.
When someone comes at you, and by ‘blow up fleets’ sort of come at you, you don’t really get to have a lot of options – die or win. It’s that time. And already has been for a while.
Most likely the Federation gets *smashed* by this incursion. Brutally. And that makes Cort think twice about his place in that. The conflict then could be whether he is going to be more dangerous to the people around him if he stays.
She walked out of the room after an argument over getting into bed with the Federation in spite of being betrayed already by corrupt Federation officials.

I’d think Spec should either be feeling the thing he’s on slamming into a wall or it pushing against his body to maintain its position relative to the floor.
Probably inertial dampening (a la Star Trek) preventing any feeling of acceleration reaching them, but Cort can feel vibrations from the engines/power systems through the floor.
Spec sounds a little hurt. It’s amazing how much he can sound like that with a single line of text.
I think it’s the “YOU’re part of the team”, as opposed to “WE are…”
And that does sound really unpleasant.
To war! Or rescue mission
Presumably both if they’re going to the most likely place.
Let this be the hour when we draw swords together. Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath, now for ruin, and the red dawn.

Everyone is making assumptions not in evidence.
Maybe they’re going out for pizza.
Seconded for the pizza theory.
Space pizza! Must be delicious.
I’ve heard it’s bit cold, and rather empty.
Nah. In space, Pizza calls out for you.
A little less bitter, Speck
I like that they still seem to be buddy-buddy with each other, even though Speck doesn’t agree with what happened here.
Still hoping for an “origin” story, showing how they met each other and why they’re pretty much inseparable ever since.
wait, what happened to nyrah?
