This could be interesting if the federation fleet gets there in time.
The prince might be trapped on the federation ship. It could be a starcaster vs starcaster showdown soon
Personally I think that will be highly unlikely. The Federation will come in with 2 Starcasters, of which one novice and the other very experienced. Kelias might have been well prepared to bond with the Starcaster, but Nyrah told her brother was also well prepared. Her brother was still completely blindsided by the immense changes of the bonding process. Not only that, the father of Kelias is suggested to decide who can wear it. Not only that, they also have very big ceremonies around it. Probably he’ll not put it on willy nilly. I would think he might ne lacks… Read more »

The Aurorum technically is killing flies using a cannon if is aiming at the fighters with those weapons…
Quite sure the Federation ships have lighter weapons for that, and are not able to damage a capital ship. But as well, a very shorter range and can put them risky close to the Dranglaex

This particular Dreadstorm is a fighter carrier (to be honest from what we’ve seen they probably all are) I imagine tactics will go something like launch fighters, go into close quarters with the Xelgos, attempt a counter boarding, and try their damnest to interdict any retreating shuttle launches from the Xelgos Worst comes to the worst, their job is to destroy the Xelgos in a way such that it’s reactor goes critical before anyone gets off The Dranglaex battle fleet right now is holding out for a quick escape with their shiny new starcaster Sad to say, but if that… Read more »

Looking at it, I’m thinking they’re using that because it has both the range and the sheer diameter to make it effective at extreme range.
Much like how the Galactica doesn’t fire its flat screen beyond a certain range, I’d imagine it’s better to take hot shots with your means at long range then to wait until they get up close. It’s a viable strategy.
Hell, the Yamato basically designed their main guns to do exactly this in World War II, and the Flak 88 is similarly effective against aircraft at extreme range but not up close.
