I kinda loathe that marker. Good sarcasm isn’t at all hard to detect. People who can’t write good sarcasm without resorting to some sheldonesque sarcasm particle should either learn how to write good sarcasm or stay away from trying to write it altogether. /s
In all honesty, I hate that marker as well; I feel it ruins the joke. However. Good sarcasm IS hard to detect when it’s anonymous people, communicating by text. You can’t just assume “This is obviously sarcasm because no one’s that dumb / hateful / naïve” because this is the Internet. If you believe you’re capable of writing sarcasm, online, to strangers, which is clear to all readers in the same way a sarcastic tone would be, ten to one you’re not. Any time I use sarcasm online, I consider what it would mean if it’s taken as genuine, and… Read more »
It looks like it’s just part of the lighting fixture. In the frame before hand you can see some bulbs hanging down below the bubble, i think those go to piece in the last frame you just can’t see them because of Ethan.
Thanks to everyone replying – looks like the comic was updated to blur it out! I’m sorry if I came across as too critical and drew attention to it! I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something.
I’m sorry, but since you insisted Scott to come with you to look for a dangerous robot that might probably kill him in sight, you don’t get to get sarcastic about how his presence escalated things.
There’d be no chance for de-escalation without Scott proving that he can give Zeke a chance. It’s the kind of gamble that’s unavoidable in a proper fulfilling life.

Drawing Ethan in “this is fine” meme pose with a mug in his hands is a stroke of genius Tim
I’ve to admit … sarcasm from Ethan is quite unexpected.
Ahh, the old it’s hard to tell when it’s sarcasm.
Much harder when your typing that’s for sure.
That’s why I adopted what I saw many people do and add /s (end sarcasm) at the end of a sarcastic sentence or paragraph.
And now I’m left wondering if the first half of your comment isn’t just sarcasm
Damn you Salazar 😎
Wait, what did I do to you?

Was that good sarcasm?
(I wish I could write well enough to not feel tempted to use emoji!)
It’s slightly less obnoxious than people highlighting the punny part of a sentence.
Which is to say, exceedingly obnoxious.

Just wanted to add. I just literally now learned that Poe’s Law exists. So yeah, you definitely need SOME sort of marker.
whats that thing above ethan in the last cell?
I asked myself the same question. Most probably a part of the lamp that can be seen in the second panel.
That’s a camera that was shown in frame accidentally
a lamp. you can unravel the bulbs from a beam to lengthen/shorten the height of the lamps

I’ve been staring at it for 2 minutes and zooming in, and I can’t seem to tell.
It kind of looks like a box with cables wrapped around it, but it also sorta looks like a tiny robot that’s crawling on Ethan’s head?
And now Tim blurred the last panel, thanks.

That.. is another Halo.
Got some sleep man…

Either get Scott or get no chance at all to meet Zeke.
Violent confrontation Zeke ↔ Ethan wasn’t planned, nor was Scott rescuing Ethan with the car. Without that the app would stay closed, too.
