I kind of agree that they’re likely a third party, but with names like “The Remorseless” and “Drath’zul” I would suspect they’re not wanting to give them a prize. Seems to me more like they’re analyzing a potential threat.
Yeah, this reads much less like “the person behind the Troll” and much more like “the group monitoring up and coming supers to eliminate threats to their secret club”.
I don’t think they’d include the Troll. He’d blab on a whim if he thought it was funny and would annoy people.
Agreed on that, but that’s why I never specified it had to be a positive interest. The ‘hunt them down’ is another lovely red flag.
But whatever they are, they don’t seem involved with Troll, not even in the indirect ‘let’s give this guy some resources and see what happens’ kind of deal.

Ah, stuff is getting serious if Villains have apostrophies in their Names. Or cringier, who knows.
Seems our plucky heroes just graduated to the next tier of villain enemies.
Congrats?

Now…is this what the other commenters are saying and they’ve been noticed by higher tier villains? Or have they been noticed by heroes who want to make them official, and they’re “hunting them down” to offer them membership to the big boy club?
Based on the names, I’d assume villains, but you never know with this comic.
“Hunt them down” is not a line people typically user when they want to recruit someone. ‘Find them’ would be more fitting.
This sounds like a new group of baddies.

The relation between Villains/heroes in the different tiers must be balanced, and now these two are starting to go up and there aren’t any vacancies now

Many are assuming facts not in evidence.
This is clearly a BatMan simile and he wants our favorite heroes to join his secret crime fighting group.
Either way Analog and D-Pad are fu. . .

I do not even have a Patreon account, so I could not offer spoilers, even if I wanted to, not that I would (as if I paid for something extra, I am not just going to give those secrets away), but this was slightly unexpected that The Troll and others were just pawns for someone else, but not unprecedented.

Okay, I think it’s safe to say that when you start garnering the attention of mysterious shadowy figures who have an unknown backstory, you’re no longer small-time heroes.

I’m calling my shot that that’s Ethan’s girlfriend. You hide a face and body silhouette to save it for a reveal

I’m placing my bet that it’s a narrative misdirect, and these guys are out to recruit rather than eliminate.

Every time they come out of a store now: “Talon Company!!”
Plus Gameboy and Z getting the “and the rest” treatment.
I’m assuming this is a fallout 3 reference? LOL If so I loved it!

When names like Drathzhul and “The Remorseless” (individual? title? group?) start taking an interest in you you know you’ve hit the big leagues.

So, is nobody else immediately thinking of the thus-far off-panel character Dr. Eldritch?

Something I just noticed about the site update: the “last comment” button goes to the last patron comic, and you then have to click back through to get to the last free comic. Not too annoying right now since it’s only five, but it will presumably get worse as the gap grows.

Obligatory speculation that caped person with androgynous calfs is Ethan’s new girlfriend (which I personally don’t believe)

oooohhhh…
It seems odd that a supervillain organization would want to hunt down a couple of minor heroes. This feels more like it’s going to be a test. Something to make them prove they’re capable of moving up to the big leagues.

The plot thickens… Interesting to see the Troll has/had benefactors helping him out behind the scenes.
Why benefactors? I would guess different group or even vigilantes group
I don’t really see them talking as benefactors of the Troll, more outside parties interested in Analog/D-Pad.
If they were affiliated with Troll I’d have expected it the conversation to be phrased more like ‘Troll failed’, rather than ‘They won’.
I kind of agree that they’re likely a third party, but with names like “The Remorseless” and “Drath’zul” I would suspect they’re not wanting to give them a prize. Seems to me more like they’re analyzing a potential threat.

And names that sound like Drakul.

So this guy’s name will be Floor-sweeping Cape
That, or his superpower is always standing in a breeze strong enough to keep his cape off the ground.
After all the revelations Ethan had after he thought his powers might have gone away… that guys true superpower is surviving while wearing a cape.
Well, Spawn doesn’t have any problem with a dirty cloak either…
That’s because Spawn’s cape is unbeholden to gravity.
Drath’zul is somebody from the Starcaster Chronicles, no?
No.
“Drath’zul”, “Remorseless”…man, these guys are so edgy, love it. XD
Reckon this is a fake out and these guys are just part of a rather edgy vigilante team and want the boys to join.
Agreed. Honestly, this guy and Ethan will probably get on like a house on fire. They both share a love of capes despite their lack of utility.
Yeah, it’s very possible they are good guys… but time will tell.
