Lucas’s strategy has been used successfully by sports fans since the dawn of time. Your team doesn’t have to win the championship, just having a better record/beating a rival/proceeding in the playoffs farther than other people’s teams is all you need to enjoy the post-season gloat period. It’s already begun in the US for many NFL fans. The best part is that the Madden franchise will perpetuate those gloats by their player and team rankings in the next version.
+100 points for the Dodgeball reference smoothly worked into the natural flow of the comic. I really do love the dynamic between Lucas and Ethan. It’s mostly unchanged from the beginning, other than now having super powers to argue about. I love it.

I take it the people who are chosen get a 2 day grace period, after the games used are announced, but before the Bowl begins? Because what if you’ve never touched a FPS, and they choose old school Halo? Seems like they’d give people a moment to learn what they’re doing.
