So I am a massive dumbass, and accidentally launched the Kickstarter campaign for the new book collections. They approved it, and I thought I was setting up a pre-launch landing page, and suddenly… the whole thing was live.
I was going to spend the next week talking about all of the work I’d put into these books, etc and hyping them up for an early February launch date, and now I’ve put the cart in front of the horse. I’m in full on panic mode, but it is what it is; the campaign is live, it explains what each book is, and what to expect, so we’ll see what happens.
There is an early bird discount for supporting all three books, which I had wanted to give ample notice about, so we’ll see how that goes. You can find the link to the campaign here. I love that I get to do the work that I do, and while I produce comics no matter what, putting them into actual books has always been really special for me. I’m hoping that my work is something you’d like to own in book-form, and if so your help in getting these made would be massively appreciated.
I mean… a surprise attack is usually a great strategic choice to begin a campaign, so… deftly executed ambush Tim!
(See, it’s all about how you spin it!)
Yay! I’m glad of the early drop since that means I was able to grab one of the early bird bundles. Now I and my eldest son will be looking forward to September.
Here is a question…
Early Bird…what if you want two sets?
I am working on an answer to that. If there isn’t an elegant way to do so during the campaign, I will make sure it’s an option afterwards via the pledge manager.
Do you have any PDF only versions? Would love to back and as much as I like hard covers I just can’t do physical books anymore
I will offer digital copies in the future, I just didn’t want them included in the KS campaign to start with. If I’m raising money to print books, I want to make sure the funds raised are based on interest in said books.
It is completely ok if you want to cancel the KS. Just put a note at the top of the KS page explaining what happened and ask people to look for it in the next week or two. I have seen other creators do it.
That was certainly an option I considered, since it seemed the only way to back out once it was launched. However as panicked as I was to have launched early, all of the fundamentals for the campaign *were* in place and correct. All that’s missing is a little prep for additional stuff like signed bookplates, etc. And that’s stuff I can put together a plan for in the next few days, so I decide to just… let it go and see what happens.
That Fair. Best of Luck with the Campaign.
Well that escalated quickly. I refreshed the page late at night and saw the kickstarter announcement. Went in saw 445/500 of the earlybird backers tier and thought why not. By the time I’d finished backing 20 more were gone. I think the chances of this missing its goal are nill.
I absolutely love that you almost reached the 100% mark already. Looking forward to that box of awesomness π
Is there an option to buy two out of three with one pledge? To be honest, I’m not much of a fan of Starcaster, and would prefer to back Analog and D-Pad, Volume One and Ctrl+Alt+Del 2.0, Volume One with one pledge.
Managed to get my hands on Early(ish) Bird set, it will be fine addition to your previously released books. There are US$ 36,505 on this kickstarter at this time. So allow me to congratulate you to successful campaign.
And the early birds are already gone… well good thing the Early(ish) aren’t that much more expensive. Any reason why the early birds were limited so heavily? (I mean you had to know they would sell out really quickly)
Seems this will be a good one! I backed π
Oh noo π because of the lack of anouncement i missed the early bird because of moving house π
Hey there! I’ve just ran into this page as I was googling something else and… I found this as a result and it made me laugh and feel less stupid. I have accidentally launched a Kickstarter campaign as well and in the exact same way you did. I did panicked too. I’m not into comics or anything, but I do like what I see here and most of all, you made me feel less alone. You really never know how a little thing can positively impact someone else. I hope my little back helps you funding your project! Cheers from… Read more »
They are fantastic games! Just zero fun to play after likeβ¦. 30 minutes. (and yes, I have played more than 30 minutes. It is the only game my two brothers play, and it helps us keep in contact)
