So guess who hasn’t had an internet connection all weekend? One guess. C’mon. You can do it. Just take a stab at it.
Yep. Me.
My cable went out late Friday night, and when I called technical support, they informed me that they were doing server migration/upgrades and that my cable would be restored by 9am Saturday morning.
Noon rolls around, and I still have no internet connection. I call them up.
“Yes, they had some problems. Your internet will most definitely be back up late this evening.”
So I’m pissed. Luckily I had the foresight to upload Saturday’s comic ahead of time, but now I was going to miss the CAD GameDay, and had no way to post about it.
Around 11pm Saturday night, still no connection. I call again.
“If your connection isn’t back by tonite, it will most definitely be back by tomorrow morning”
Sunday afternoon, I wake up. Nothing. I call repeatedly, and no one can tell me what’s going on.
Finally around 7pm I get a call from a supervisor down at the local branch, and she informs me that most of the upgrades are complete, but for some reason a few customers still don’t have a connection. She informs me she can set up an emergency house call to find out what’s wrong… scheduled to arrive between 7 and 9pm tonite.
I finally broke down (it’s 5:30am now) and set up a dial up account for the purpose of uploading today’s comic and making this news post. I’m also trying to wade through my email (took 25 minutes to receive all of it).
So the bottom line is this. I fucking hate dial-up.
No wait… the bottom line is that, for all intents and purposes, I don’t currently have an internet connection. I mean, let’s face it.. after living on broadband for so long, using dial-up is like trying to breathe through a wet blanket. But I will not let the comic go un-updated, and so I grin and bear it. But that’s it. I can’t stand being online with dial-up for anything else.
So until I get my cable back (it better be tonite, or heads will roll) there will be a delay in answering emails.
I would also like to apologize for missing the CAD GameDay, and we’ll reschedule it for this weekend.
