Ethan you adorable cinnamon bun, I am glad you’re back.
Also, might just be me, but he seems decidedly more intelligent. Not any wiser per say, but his levels of goofiness that only someone of previous Ethan would have done seem for the most part a thing of the past. He is a much more genuine person now. Still quirky, and makes dumb decisions, and clearly takes a while to learn, but still…
Well he wanted the characters to be a bit more realistic, and Ethan before was an over the top comic book style with how silly he was. Which is kind of ironic since it is a superhero comic now, but still more realistic in that way.
Old Ethan build a sentient robot out of an XBox (the first one not even the 360 or one), upgraded him and repeated this process (so we can assume it was not just a lucky coincidence), future Ethan build a time machine and you still call him silly and less intelligent? Wow I must be really dumb then. And my memory might be wrong but I think not even old Ethan struggled this much with women.
I think what Entercoven is saying is true. Yes, Ethan 1.0 did create some amazing things, but they always seemed a little Deus ex Machina to me – like, the joke is, “Look, this idiot who can’t take care of himself made a butter-powered time machine! How craaazy is that?” It’s the same sort of comedy as when Homer Simpson, atop a rogue nuclear submarine, says “It’s my first day” through a megaphone in English, Spanish, Japanese, and Penguinese. This Ethan is still zany, but not nonsensical. He didn’t dress up in a tuxedo and tails for no reason; he… Read more »
How could you call Ethan 1.0 non-expressive?
He was more childish and focused only on video games, but he still cared for his Lucas Liliah and Zeke, just there were less occasions for showing it.
Also being pretty much closed in home much of the time if not working narrows these occasions even more.

Also, can we take a moment to appreciate just how genuinely nice and chill Lucas date is? I mean, random blind date you just found that day, but the guy seems great, like a genuinely solid dating material.
Sure there may eventually be flaws, but as of this moment? Dudes great.

So, yeah…delayed justice, but boy oh boy when those cubes hit your face….!
It’d make more sense for her to be a machinist of some sort. You’d be surprised how many times you can find junk lying around that can be easily…re purposed.

don’t think too much about if you and emily are serious or not ethan you might wind up causing your brain to explode
This comic just made me think about the topic and since I have not read any vr comics here (one shots), this finally let me think that. But glad you are not missing out 😉
It’s a pity, because they’ve just not caught on as much. I can’t wait until the tech gets refined a bit. I played about an hour on the Vive in a VR arcade, and it was kind of life-changing. Hopefully we get true immersive full games soon.

Ugh. This date had gone from cute and lovably anxious to annoying and obnoxiously ridiculous in the time it took dinner to get there. Here’s hoping it doesn’t work out between them.

I really like the new direction the comic is taking with a more grounded and relatable (read: lifelike) Ethan and Lucas. But its moments like these where I struggle; three or four comics in a row where its just a joke about Ethan misunderstanding and panicking ridiculously in a row or otherwise shooting from the hip and “hilarity ensuses”. This comic would be amazing if maybe 15% more strips ended without punchlines and instead furthered the story sagely. I love that you’ve turned an eye towards more serious storytelling but it feels like you’re living too much in both worlds.… Read more »
I understand where you’re coming from, but Ethan is not going to dive into that particular traumatic event on a first date (a double date, no less) with someone he barely knows.
The topic was broached because asking about his family is a question Emily would naturally ask on a first date and, because she’s an outsider, it allowed you (the audience) a couple of snippets of new info into Ethan’s backstory. But this storyline is neither the time or the place to drill down on that particular subject. I have other plans for that getting into that information.

FYI I had a Gillet video ad play with volume without me mousing over.
If not Lucas jokes about the jokes joking about a joke then Andrew can joke about the joke on the joke over the joke about the joke off the joke.
My head hurts after reading that, lol
My head hurt when I wrote it.

That may come with a lot of practice on his part. But true, he’s cool.
(And surprisingly not a barkeeper, but working in a hospital ;))
Plus, I’m assuming from his conversation snippet that he’s either a doctor or a janitor. One of those jobs sure makes him seem like A+ date material.
Seconded! I guess we might not see much more of him (given Lucas apparent dating habits), but he’s very cool!
Of course, it’s obvious to us that Ethan’s joking, because if either of them was going to be a food taster it’d be the guy who can’t die.
What would be a little bit less awkward, I agree 😛
He can totally die, he’ll just get better.

Inb4 food is actually poisoned by robot dude, causing mass panic and an almost revealed super hero.
Also an unlikely event that Andrew is, or works for Zeke, and that’s how they got it poisoned.
Emily is a superhero too!
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo great idea!

So Tim is not a pro VR guy, is he?
Because a fictional character shared an amusing anecdote regarding a fictional customer’s VR motion-sickness?
I enjoy my Oculus just fine, thank you 😉

I’ll pass that along.
