So I thought I’d dropped mention of the Crown Bowl in this new continuity over the past couple of years. And I did… but looking back, it’s possible those were in Patreon exclusive comics, so not everyone may have seen them.
Nevertheless, I’m excited to flesh out more of what Winter-een-mas looks like in the city of Omnitropolis! Longtime readers will likely be immediately familiar with the idea between the holiday’s annual competition!
pretty ballsy move
Such a common saying, and yet, I still don’t know where the ‘loins’ are. I even googled it and I’m still not entirely sure. Are we even certain that Ethan knows where the loins are or is he perhaps, like me, merely referring to a part of his body that he _thinks_ are his loins??
From just googling “loins”.
loin
/lɔɪn/Submit
noun
plural noun: loins
the part of the body on both sides of the spine between the lowest (false) ribs and the hip bones.
LITERARY
the region of the sexual organs regarded as the source of erotic or procreative power.
“he felt a stirring in his loins at the thought”
a joint of meat that includes the vertebrae of the loins.
“loin of pork”
Pretty sure he’s going with the last one here.
“A joint of meat that includes the vertebrae of the loins“? Definitely. I have a lamb shank I regularly consult every time the power ball gets big enough.
If he said “my loins are rigid” would that make it easier for you?
In this Reboot, did Ethan not invent Wintereenmas?
Curious on this too.
Nevermind, Tim answered below, he did not.
I thought it was a reference to the super bowl or something, but then for Winter-Een-Mas?
I might just be sleep deprived but… Did Ethan create winter-een-mas in this new universe? Do we non patrean fans not know? I honestly can’t remember…
No he did not.
Now I assumed this actually: that he didn’t create it, even though the joke in the previous universe that he created it but no one knows he started it.
But in this universe: who started it? where did it start? has it been around a long time comparatively?
Winter-een-mas is well-established in this universe. It is a mainstream holiday, especially in Omnitropolis.
Damn breeches in continuity. I feel like Doctor Strange right now. Questioning reality.
Dormammu, I’ve come to bargain.
Nice, very excited! The thing I’m really curious about, who invented Winter-een-mas in this reality? Seems like they commercialized it a bit more in this one, but who started it?
Some guy named Josh, you probably never heard of him…
Ha that would be a nice throw back there of that were the case.
No, Ethan! You definitely CAN’T trust your loins! It’s right in their name! They’re loin!
No they are the King of the Jungle!
What’s a Crown Bowl?
Tim mentioned it a while back, but I can’t quite recall where. He might have been a bit more detailed in the Patreon comics. Basically, it appears to be the Games Games Bowl from the last timeline.
Does this mean we get to see Abby from the last timeline now?
Because this seems like it would be right up her alley, plot-rigged lottery or not.
Is pink hair lady coming back? Forgot her name lmao.
I can definately see that third panel being taken out of context, haha.
So, the Game Games Bowl has become the Crown Bowl… Guess if someone else invented the holiday, that makes sense. I bet Ethan’s gonna make it into the Bowl somehow, and then either 1 of 2 things will happen: – Ethan will end up making it through most of the Bowl only to lose in the final stretch, much like the pre-Reboot Bowl. Whether it’s a long haul arc that lasts beyond the actual holiday, or another text-only version like the first Game Games Bowl, I’m not sure. – Ethan will lose immediately and embarrassingly. Much shorter arc, but honestly… Read more »
I read the whole novella Tim put out for the final Games Bowl, when he released it. It struck me as a somewhat different narrative style than the gag-a-day comics we regularly get (obviously).
…Yada yada, I think this might end up being a connection to the original timeline. Or at least AN alternate timeline. Maybe post-apoc Ethan, or Ethan Prime, who’ve been sent here after the time machine ran out of butter. Who else but Ethan would make something like Winter-Een-Mas, and name it that? Fits right into the superhero supergenre, too.
