About ten years ago, I made the very difficult decision to hit the reset button on my life’s work. While I loved my job, I couldn’t help but think that, given a decade of experience and a clean slate, I could do a lot of exciting things with these characters.
Fast forward to this morning at breakfast, and I realized I now have two decades of experience under my belt. Imagine the sort of things I could explore with a fresh slate now.
So I’m very excited to announce Ctrl+Alt+Del 3.0! The next chapter for these characters!
With this reboot, I will once again start fresh, throwing out all existing storylines for a new perspective to approach these characters from. In 3.0, we will see our main character, Ethan, a video-game-playing ghost hunter, tackling supernatural mysteries alongside his sarcastic and spectral sidekick, Lucas!
“A ghost hunter whose best friend is a ghost?! That’s crazy!” I hear you saying.
It is! And it will add quite the twist on this friendship you thought you knew! As they attempt to unravel the mysteries of the unknown, as well as solve the cold case of Lucas’ murder, they will encounter a wide variety of characters, some familiar, some brand new.
I’m really excited to take this journey with you guys, and I hope you’re looking forward to the fresh start as much as I am!

Would be fun to see Lucas having to deal with this Ethan’s crazy antics unable to physically stop him. Not to mention all the other characters roles in this new world.
I’m looking forward to CAD 4.0 in 10 years time, where the entire cast become hamsters, except for Zeke, who becomes a sentient computer mouse.

I’m just happy he finally admitted it wasn’t some long planned thing he did to end the series because I remember a post he replied to back on the forums that was talking about the length of that last arc. It ended up being like half of what he said it would be.

it would be a great way for him to collect his thoughts on where he was going and how he was gonna re-unite zeke and the team. could imagine ripping through a couple of weeks worth of work in the style above fairly quickly to give time to the “real work”

I can’t wait for the pre-re-boot, showing Ethan and Lucas meeting during the game wars, where people fight and die on the battlefield of gaming. Two enemies, who find a sense of kinship on the battlefield, and begin the first Co-Op Uprising.
I hate April 1st. No one enjoys creators pranking their audience. I am among a lot of people who were looking forward to seeing the next page in the storyline but instead we have to wait till Monday so Tim can get his chuckles. Do you need big flaming letters saying “THE END” to know that the story arc has completed? It seemed obvious that the last strip was the last in that story arc and Tim is going to switch to another story now. That’s why I thought that a reboot was actually plausible. So the issue is definitely over, but I think saying the story is done is ridiculous. There’s a lot of development to be done with Lilah and Ethan, there are multiple villains that still exist, and while Zeke will certainly re-enter the storyline, it’s likely that Scott will continue to be at odds and probably turns into a villain. There’s no way Analog and D-Pad are over, it’s just that issue that is finished.

but you could do a lot from where it is. and either way, joke or not, reboot or slight shift, whatever comes up next im happy with. tim does good work.

It was actually working on me, but the whole “ghost” thing felt like too much and then I remembered the date. In my defense, I’ve never lived anywhere with this tradition. So, I sometimes need a few moments to realise.
