Infernal Demons, p23

July 19, 2023 by Tim

I’ve launched a new project ahead of the school year!

For the past five years, I’ve drawn my kids little monsters that we pack in with their school lunch/snack. They’re a fun a little note from home, and I’ve recently started turning them into a very simple lunchtime game they can play.

This year I wanted to make Lunch Monsters available to other parents as a fun and easy twist on the idea of sending in a little note of love and encouragement with your child’s lunch.
I’d love it if you took a moment to check out the video, and share it around if you know any parents that might find this fun going into the new school year!

Oh but that’s how they get you. As soon as you’re bugged enough to correct them, they won.

You think it’s a deliberate decision? Designed to be a subtle troll by intentionally missing an obvious reference in order to irk those who know said reference being missed?

Probably simply Tim didn’t want people to think his villains in this comic are connected or implied to be part of a real world hacker group.

Perhaps not enough for a full legion, maybe “We are Squad” or “We are Company” 😛

I mean, if I were Tim I wouldn’t want to attract Anon’s attention too much.

Theirs probably a super villain with clone powers calling himself Legion already.

Super hero / villain trademark registration has to be the dullest part of becoming a super anything.

Well, as expected it is not the “real” Troll. Though, it is an interesting reverse/approach on the matter.

So, the Troll no longer is a single entity but a network much like Anonymous. It is actually a reasonable development and one I would even consider obvious to a certain degree without prior foreshadowing.

Kind of like how The Joker became The Jokerz in Batman Beyond.

“Losers. All of you. A disgrace to the name Troll.” Return of the Joker reference for those who don’t know.

Well my question now is, has it *always* been a network? Feels like it could be, though this is the more obvious route. But maybe that first Troll was always one of many.

not sure i would liken it to anonymous given anon has lost all support and backing of the fapchan community of late. they were always a joke compared the the hardcore /B/rigadeer squad anyway but anon is basically dead in the water now.

‘We are myriad” doesn’t roll off the tongue quite as well as the bible reference the real life equivalent uses.

I hope Tim can secure Willem Dafoe for the role when they start work on the CAD Cinematic Universe.

As a minion with an incriminating proof caught seems like the “destroy Analogue’s reputation plan” can be discharged and is just make him fear…
Or maybe now a big bunch of minions appear and they have to fight for their lives…
Or maybe this guy when the cops appear start crying about he has been forced by Analogue an D-Pad to bear the mask or something like that…

I would say it is more like real life trolls. They aren’t ‘minions’. They are trolls in their own right, coming together to troll where the opportunity presents itself, but otherwise perfectly capable of working alone. A few other bystanders see this as fun too, becoming trolls themselves…

What incriminating proof?

He was just taking a stroll near a print shop, and wearing a troll mask isn’t a crime.

In fact, it’s Analog that would be likely considered guilty of assault.

I could swear that is not a mask of the troll meme, but mimicing the Troll’s face, that’s what I mean.

I would gather that the meme in this universe is just what the supervillain’s face looks like after the chemical truck accident.

We are myriad?
We are the troll?
So it’s a mix of we are Legion and the exact storyline of the Joker Instance from Gotham…

No worries. It’s a good arc though! But if it goes the way I think it’ll go then “D-bag” and “Masturbation man” will have their hands full (and by that I dont mean they’re standing around with their d!x in their hands, although that would be fitting considering their new monnikers).

I guess certain citizens of their city are really tired of all those super “heroes”, and decided to strike back however they can, in a way that will escalate further in the future.

I like this angle. It’s a bit more creative than just recycling the Joker Gang/Jokerz/etc angle that I immediately thought of. It could also set up a future conflict with a past girlfriend…..one who would have the means to transport supplies around the city unnoticed.

Gotta say: The idea it wasn’t the guy himself was expected, but for the minion to make it sound like they’re a copycat GROUP is unexpected as well.

Well played, Tim.

There is no “the guy”. There are no “minions”. The whole point here is that the Troll isn’t one person and may never have been one person.

The main reason trolls exist in the real world, is because their behavior is cool to some. It’s a simple matter of people seeking attention and validation.

Immature, fragile people seek those in unhealthy ways of course.

So, copycats and minions are inevitable. After all, most real world trolling is a copy/paste of something that became popular years ago.

They’re the quintessential unoriginal idi0t, who fancies themselves special and superior while acting like just another variety of sheep.

Yeah, I’m fun at parties, TL;DR, etc. Those just prove my point xD

These guys aren’t just trolls now, it’s a CULT. This is giving me the “Hydra” from Capt. America/MCU vibes. “Chop off one head, two grow back.” And cults only create more of themselves, and reek havoc on the world. They won’t stop until they destroy the guys and then move on to someone or something else.

Yeaaa better not take the chances, just …end them all or they will spread. Never show mercy to the trolls.

Can’t tell if the Rick Roll missing the second “Gonna” is an intentional troll or not. I assume it is. Well played.

Late to the discussion, but to those wondering about Myriad, I think it’s a Magic the Gathering reference. In short, one creature makes enough copies of itself to attack everyone at once.
Apply that to this situation, and the Troll has enough coordination and members to keep them guessing, always.
