I know this pain, I can’t smile on demand without it looking, as Lucas put it, like an alien wearing human skin for the first time… so photo taking is a real pain.

I learned to be the photographer to avoid needing to learn to pose. I actually got half decent. Turns out that does not work 100% of the time and while I liked the solution it was not comprehensive.

The trick is to have something mildly funny stored in your memories. Can’t be too funny, or you veer right back into creepy looking faces again.

my go to isn’t to have a funny memory at hand, but rather the idiosyncrasies of loved ones, or a recent cute romance I had been reading

I’m ‘funny’ if you are a tech nerd/geek (but not to the point of LARPing) as ‘funny’.

I’m also as straight forward and so I don’t hide things and I am willing to talk about just about anything. First date and me and my wife-to-be was talking about the hard parts of her life and I did the same. We also talked about what we took away from those experiences. It seemed to help bond.

Yeah that’s my strategy, it works well enough to get by, sadly it can’t cure my resting bitch face in my day to day life lol. But that’s not something I can do anything about so oh well

My depression is evil. If I notice I’m smiling, my brain reminds me of all the reasons I shouldn’t be happy and makes it hard to fake a smile.

My solution is to give a Han Solo smirk.

We often think our happiness comes from things in our world. Things happen. What we need to learn is that our emotional response is up to us. ex: I just failed at a business venture. That happened, but you can think of it as a learning event and take what you can out of it, and then dump it. If it doesn’t help you move ahead, try to just launch it into the sun. You’ve got a life to life. You can, with practice, learn to see any event simply as an event and the context is provided by your… Read more »

That face reminds me of what happens when you set too many facial expression sliders to maximum in Heroforge.

I thought I went to that movie in theaters with my family… but it could just be a methane deposit reflecting the light off of Venus or something.

I remember that. I was on eHarmony and I couldn’t find the guts to put a picture up (plus didn’t have any) for the first 4 months. Eventually got a tripod and my DSLR-alike and got one (after trying about 12) and put it in. By that time, my soon-to-be-wife and I had been dating her from about the first week. I took the time to not only answer the questions in the questionaire but to also fill my own answers for most. That’s what got my wife interested. Plus we ended up to have RCAF family history on both… Read more »
