This reminds me of Business Battles in GTA Online, yes, they are supposed to be a battle, it is only in the name after all, there are a lot of players that just want to get in and get out, and not worry about other players. Especially when there are other things at stake, like some clothing unlock for delivering an Event Cargo Business Battle Goods, where you can only get 1 unlock from it no matter how many there are to deliver, so just get yours and let others get theirs, and everybody is happy!

It is a stupid idea to force pve and pvp players together. It never works out in the end. Because the pve players leave. This change, and the inevitable pve mode, are the only reason I am even considering getting it when it goes on sale for 40% off in a few months on steam.
They didn’t force anything. They were clear before release that they had abandoned the idea of it being a PvE game. The only people ‘forcing’ PvE and PvP together were the players who seem to have forgotten that and bought it anyway.
the mix of pvp and pve is what makes the game interesting, and the presence of friendliness based matchmaking means that you are in essence, rewarded for being good to your fellow man by putting you side by side with those who want that same sort of kindness.
The possibility that somebody can shoot you in the back, but that they choose not to, is very cool.
Star Wars the Republic had this years ago with one of the worlds. Been ages ago so I can’t remember the planet in particular, but basically it was a death world, everything was trying (and could) kill you, and on top of that the entire world was an open PvP area. Thing is, because of how brutal and punishing the puzzles and enemies were, the moment a Jedi or Sith attacked anyone from the other faction they would get put down by their own faction for even thinking of trying to start shit lol Hell, it was common to see… Read more »
It certainly creates an issue with griefers. It’s just safer, and more fun, when people who don’t want to participate in pvp can opt out while still having the option to participate with other players.

I’d love to see how this would play out on a Canadian server. “Oh, sorry. I did not expect anyone else to come for this loot. Do you want it.” “Sorry, that’s all right, just go ahead, you came here first.” “I did, but that doesn’t mean I should keep all of it. You seem to not have enough equipment to defend yourself. Please, take some of this.” “I don’t have a lot of equipment, but that also means I don’t have a lot to lose, you take it.” “I can’t now that you’re here as well. How about we… Read more »
All bets are off on the Newfoundland server though.
“What y’at? Look at all those come from aways, stunned as lumps they are.”
“Yes b’y. Let’s get sleeveen and cracked and really get em tangly.”

The ABMM seems to have been working considering the number of games sold and the player counts staying stable. Only people who have been disliking it have been the people who can’t take what they dish out.

I quite like the more passive lobbies where focus on the ARC is a greater concern than PVP. Yeah, occasionally a rat will kill you, but more frequently now in the friendly servers, even the wiff of a rat and players will band together to cover one another. Its a good way to make new gaming friends, and its nice being the hero who spots somebody else get merk’d by a rat, then you get to roll in and play the hero, and bring that guy back while punishing the aggressor. Its less like depicted, typically most areas will have… Read more »

Okay, now that sounds like my kind of multiplayer! I hate getting stuck with “alpha” types who have to be on top, no matter what. Like, hey, how about a little co-operation, every once in a while?
Let the Andrew Tates play with other Andrew Tates, and the rest of us play with someone who just wants to have some fun!
