Worse. The Troll’s serum inadvertently modified his power, and he now becomes a day younger every time he respawns.
With no lower limit.
At least it’s not as bad as Monster Girl in “Invincible” had it, becoming a day younger with every transformation. (powered by some magic, she understandably calls it a curse, but I don’t know, if it was intentional by whoever cast it)
She is an adult, but has a body of a lower-bracket teen. (and no, not in the freezer)
(Disclaimer: I’m not serious and it’s not official canon by Tim, etc etc. 😉 )
So, here’s a thought, he purposely gives himself some type of chronic disease that makes him ill, but does not kill him. He keeps himself alive, but not healthy, until he is 70ish. And then he kills himself. POOF, he is 20ish again.

Now imagine the Troll didn’t tell him he had an injection to take away his powers, but to inhibit them, making them work only 50% of the time… he could never be sure he REALLY got them back.
For all we know, he’s got even more powers that will cause a rift between him and Lucas, jealousy, and having to reconcile the old Ethan with the new.

One of these days, he is going to get a girlfriend and she is going to find a counter somewhere on his body he can’t see. And every time he comes back, it gets a little closer to zero.

Reminds me of the talisman for “A Knight’s War”. Only had so many uses

What if the title means he’s going to wake up and find out this was all a dream?
I bet it actually alludes to him finally making a hard acceptance that that current girlfriend he’s had for the past two issues is toxic, dealing with it, and making the hard but right decision to dump her.

Heck yeah! Now dump that narcissistic control complex of a girlfriend and it’ll be two big wins back-to-back!

Locked comics if you are not a patreon? Fine, I understand.
Putting them in the RSS feed so you can open and find out “THIS COMIC IS LOCKED FOR 3 DAYS UNLESS YOU BECOME A PATREON”. Hell no.
Not sure what’s going on, but my feed reader popped up p02 (still locked for 3 days) 19 hours ago. It’s not visible in the feed now, so I’m a little confused. It’s possibly because I was subscribed to https://www.cad-comic.com/rss/rss.xml (the old feed URL), but it’s not there now.
I think it’s probably just a good reminder that I was going to subscribe to the Patreon and simply forgot 🙃
What reader? Because I uploaded 6 locked comics yesterday at the same time. WE do not have it set up for locked comics to notify on the free RSS, and I do not see any locked comics notified on the free RSS now. However, we have found that a lot of readers go out of their way to scrape as much information as possible whether we allow it or not, so while I won’t rule out some hiccup on our end, I find it equally possible that your reader is trying to scrape shit. I can look into it if… Read more »
I’m using feed.ly. I’d suspect a temporary hiccup with the feeds (which are a pain to filter in WordPress), as feed.ly is showing the same content that you have in your feed (“The post Waking Up, p02 appeared first on Ctrl+Alt+Del Comic.”), but manually checking the RSS shows that it isn’t there now. I have noticed that feed.ly will cache any items from a feed, even if they’re removed later.
We’ve added a 5min delay from post to pushing to the RSS feeds, so hopefully that accounts for any glitches where the RSS briefly sees a post exists in the system that isn’t public yet.

Stuff like this kinda takes away the purpose of his emotional speech to Zeke how it feels and the fear about every time he dies.

Site question. I’m curious about the endgame for the patreon reminder page component. For those who can’t or don’t want to just adblock the page component out of existence, is the number just going to keep getting bigger? In several years time, when a new person comes to the site, are they just going to see “This is not the latest comic, there are 340 pages ahead of this comic, join the patreon”? What impression will that leave upon them?
The business model leaks, that’s true. E.g. wait 1 year, pay 3$, get 340 comics, unsubscribe, wait 1 more year, pay another 3$, get another 340…and so on.
Which makes no sense for both sides. But compared to 0$, it’s still 3$ (i think that’s a meme quote).
I can’t offer though any better alternatives to what Tim already does or is trying through books, posters, etc, so it is what it is. Hope it works out for him.
I could sell each page individually via Patreon, if I wanted to try and guarantee some sort of value gained per page. I’d rather not. Since I started the Patreon 11 years ago, it has always been possible to sign up for a month, read all the extra stuff and then quit. I instead choose to rely on the people who recognize that art does not happen in a vacuum, and that it needs some level of support or it goes away. If you want computers doing all your art for you, fine. But if you want humans doing it,… Read more »

Is anyone surprised by this? I am not surprised by this
I’m a bit surprised…that must still hurt like hell…but we’ll, the excitement
Does he still age, or is that unlimited lives freeze him in his 20s forever?

It resets him to his most recent healthy state. Think of it like checkpoints
So, here’s a thought, he purposely gives himself some type of chronic disease that makes him ill, but does not kill him. He keeps himself alive, but not healthy, until he is 70ish. And then he kills himself. POOF, he is 20ish again.

The troll isn’t that smart.
Diabolical. You sir, are an evil genius!
And yet for all he knows he gained 99 lives when he got his powers, not infinite. It might run out one day.
I’m pretty sure he’s burned through way more than 99 by now.
Lesson learned; lesson lost.
Ah, there’s the Ethan I’ve been missing. Good to have you back, buddy.
!SHINK!
“Good to have you back again, I guess”
This is what I think would be a cool modification to Ethan’s powers via the Troll’s injection:
Every time Ethan regenerates he has a different additional superpower:
Super strength
Flight
Telekinesis
Speed reading
Sandwich Materialization (but only Paninis)
Deadly Farts
. . .
Think of the fun and humor of discovering what the new power is. And, then using them.
Oohhh, the possibilities.
To the individual who down voted my idea:
What do you have against Paninis ?
For all we know, he’s got even more powers that will cause a rift between him and Lucas, jealousy, and having to reconcile the old Ethan with the new.

Didn’t he say it HURTS every time?
He had enough experience to know how to do it quickly with least pain.
Turns out he didn’t have infinite lives anymore tho.
Ethan is back, baby!
