Having been there… “Ethan”, this hurt and shame and RAGE you feel can help you KNOW what you want for yourself and also to make sure you never make another person feel this way too.

It sucks to be alone again. Finding a relationship isnt ever easy, and that makes staying in a bad one easy to want to do, even when we know that its toxic.
The man has good friends he sees every day. He’s not “alone” alone. He’ll be ok.

Come on, dude. It’ll suck for a minute and then it’ll all be good. You’ve fucking got this.

I have been on a similar bench, with similar statement (different reason though), with an old dude on the next one. He just said: “Yeah”.
I think the Fuuuuuck is universal.

Surely an old lady has either been through something or knows someone who has.
While unexpected loudness is unexpected, there wouldn’t be much concern after that.

He’s finally allowing himself to see the situation as it really is, and he knows what he has to do about it, and he doesn’t like either of them.

I like it that Scott didn’t tell him what to do. Ethan thought about it for some unknown time by himself before deciding: “Well, yeah. Apparently this relationship IS bullshit.”

Hate to see Ethan going through all this, but glad he seems to be reaching escape velocity finally (I hope).
I was actually thinking Lilah’s mom/grandma, who, after asking Ethan what’s wrong and listening to him, set’s him up with a blind date with her daughter/granddaughter…
This is a random stranger, enough with these dumb coincidences. This is also the last page of the arc (next one is “Breaking up”)

Oh, so, in that universe there have the anti-homeless benches too? Now, going to the comic itself, I liked it. So real. I was hoping the old lady to be supportive.
Look how much room there is on either side of Ethan and the old lady. It’s long enough for someone to lay down on either side of the middle armrest. That’s not anti-homeless, it’s a double-wide bench that needs the extra armrest/leg in the middle for structural support.
There’s an anti-homeless bench in my town where the anti is in the form of a homeless person statue stealing the spot that people with and without homes would prefer to be available.
There’s no shortage of housing that should be affordable; but with the housing market gauging, I doubt it. Most of the hobos around here just can’t adult to save their lives, often because of drugs.

It will be ok, Ethan. You have close friends, and a calling. It will come when it is time. You cannot rush the search or you will end up a puzzle piece without any connections.
The embodiment of several of his interests is utterly polluted to the core with downsides which readers have been raging about since the start. He’s been dragged kicking and screaming towards realizing the ratio is a raw deal and knows that doing right by himself will mean extreme unpleasantness. The night’s darkest before the dawn, and Ethan has blindly stubbed his toe on this page.
I think there’s some sorta seperate issue, since the original publishing date on this and the next comic also have a large gap in between.
Either another comic will be taking place for a couple of weeks, and this part of the site doesn’t account for that, or Tim didn’t publish anything for that long (and his update about that isn’t being shown here now for us).

Plot twist! Nicole’s mom!

Crazy idea, but instead of encouraging benches to be usable as places to sleep… Wouldn’t it make more sense to build more affordable housing?

I still don’t understand what Ethans problem is.

At this moment: Cognitive dissonance
In this arc: Toxic partner
Doesn’t seem toxic to me.
Now commit and push through her BS.
Don’t worry lady, it’s just a mixed metaphor. It’s not rocket surgery.
Ethan will be burning that bridge when he comes to it. Until then, he just needs to get all his eggs in a row until the cows turn blue.
Something’s wrong with the dates of the comics that will be released. Today is the 10th of June, Wednesday.
On the next comic scheduled to be released it says “Unlocks for everyone in 2 days (June 11, 2026).”
The date is tomorrow (Thursday), but 2 days would be the day after tomorrow (Friday).
The behaviour is consistent with the next few comics too. (“5 days” would be Monday, but the date is Sunday).
I think there’s some sorta seperate issue, since the original publishing date on this and the next comic also have a large gap in between.
