My bet is that she will freak out and try to kill Ethan only for him to respawn right in front of her. So that she can then try to control him by threatening to release his secret identity. Setting up the classic super hero conflict of needing to find a way to silence her.
That would also be a murder/attempted murder confession. They’d both have one over on the other. That, and proving his ability would require further murder, which might give Ethan et al. more leverage.
I actually have a headcannon where she’s one of the supers previously mentioned in the intro to this phase of the comic. She was actually ‘assigned’ to Ethan as a way to keep tabs on the team after they hit notoriety.

I really like Scott 2.0 (was fond of 1.0 also) hopefully this one doesn’t turn bad.
Maybe this is the catalyst for him becoming slowly evil.

I really feel like Tim has grown as a writer. I was around for CAD 1.0 and while it was funny, it struggled a little when things got more serious.
This storyline has been textbook and shows a level of empathy and understanding that feels really human.

You can tell by his facial expression in that second-to-last panel alone what his answer to that question is, and it’s not an answer he likes. Here’s to hoping he does the right thing, even though it won’t be easy nor fun.

I am getting an ominous feeling about what “Waking Up” will mean after he confronts her. This feels like it’s leading to a cliffhanger….

Yes, because every relationship is an egyptian myth scale where your feelings are the heart feather and the other person’s feelings are the heart
this is not how relationships work, its not so black and white, sometimes you feel bad and thats okay, you cant just go to a therapist that says “the problem isnt you, in fact the problem is NEVER you” just to feel good about yourself
If this early in a relationship you have the need to go to a friend because you have doubts: this is not the person for you. There are two people in a relationship and sometimes yes there may be a disagreement or an argument and sometimes you may need to do something that’s not your thing because the other reaaaaaaally wants to do it.
But if it’s always you who has to give up everything for the other then no the problem is NOT you.
It’s not black and white, true, there’s a necessary give and take. Ideally those two should be roughly balanced. I hardly think “Are you actually happy in this relationship” is an absurd question for someone who was approached for advice to ask.
I think Scott is handling it rather well. He heard Ethan out, he gave his opinion, but ultimately he’s just a sounding board to allow Ethan to come to his own conclusions.
it’s not black and white, ok, but the scale analogy is correct: if the moments you are happy are very little compared to the moment you are sad, the relationship isnt’a compromise anymore, is seriously unbalanced

Thank goodness. This whole arc has been giving me some PTSD flashbacks. I come to comics for escapism, not to be reminded of my own past trauma.
I know you probably don’t mean it in a bad way but a gentle reminder that Tim doesn’t know about your trauma. I started watching “Dead to Me” with Christina Applegate but I stopped because my sister died after she got hit by a car in 2001 and it just got to heavy for me. In a comic with an actual storyline like the CAD reboot, the characters need be fleshed out and this can involve bad stuff happening to them. You can’t have only the comics from their hero-persona and not from when they’re themselves. Sorry you are reminded… Read more »
When I was very small child, Dad wanted me in his driver’s seat to help fix his truck. I didn’t follow instructions well enough and he had the strange idea to catch the truck as it backed across the street and into a brick wall. The trauma of seeing his bloody hand (he fully recovered, but still-) has helped me vow to never drive…in real life. The scale analogy really hit home for me, finding balance certainly isn’t easy, and weighing to the right sort of way is just as difficult. Good on Tim putting it that way.

You know it’s serious when the last panel doesn’t have a punchline.
lol I feel that they’re gonna break up, she’s gonna lose her mind and go after scott and lucas for “separating them”
We are witnessing a villainess origin story indeed.
So she’s the catwoman – analog ?
She’s going to make the move from Carol Ferris to Star Sapphire.

That had kinda been my theory for a while, albeit back when we weren’t positive he had his power still so that it would have been what proved he did.

I don’t think you understand the concept of a scale.
Here, let me help you: You see which side has *more*, not if one side has anything at all.
It’s not black and white, true, there’s a necessary give and take. Ideally those two should be roughly balanced. I hardly think “Are you actually happy in this relationship” is an absurd question for someone who was approached for advice to ask.
