Well, Digital Overload 2008 has now come and gone. I’ve spent the last couple of days recuperating, and I’m finally starting to feel like myself again.
There isn’t much to say that I haven’t said in a past post-DO daze, but the event this year was even bigger and smoother than ever, and I had a great time.
Last year our registration process went slowly, and we ended up with a gigantic line that people were stuck in until 10:30pm on Friday. Suffice to say, none of us were very happy about it, so we examined the system, located the bottlenecks, and made registration our number one priority for Digital Overload 2008. I’m very happy to say that when opening day rolled around this year, not only were we able to open the doors an hour earlier than scheduled, but we had killed the line by 6:30pm. I’m pretty proud of our staff for that.
With that sorted out, I think that tournament prep/organization is going to get the attention for Digital Overload 2009.
Speaking of which, we’ve already reserved our dates for next year, back at the RICC. I’ll post those soon.
Thanks to everyone who came out to Digital Overload 2008, and for making it such a huge success. And thanks in advance for all of your input which we’ll be able to use to make 2009 even better.
Thanks to the staff for running the event with me. Pog, Dicion, Nimby, Buu, Hack, Steph, Dirt, Twiggy, Kirsi, Brandi, Cookie, Worm, Hysteric, Javier, Kyle… you guys all rock. Thanks again, and hopefully we’ll get together before next year. Thanks to our volunteers, for taking time out of gaming to help us out, it really made a big difference.
On Saturday night, The Konami Kode came and set up and played for about an hour and a half. It’s the first time our event has had live music, and I was really happy with how it turned out. They were really nice and extremely talented.
There’s so much to absorb and comprehend after a weekend like Digital Overload, so many pictures, so many stories. This year we were fortunate enough to have Kyle Turk on staff, who filmed practically everything and will be cutting it up into a great little series of videos for us over the next couple of weeks. Here are some recaps of Days One and Two.
I hope all of you that attended had a great time, and I hope even more of you will join us next year for our fourth event.
