So here’s a little indie game you may be interested in. It’s called Shelter. In Shelter, you play as a mother badger trying to protect her cubs from the dangers of the world at large. That’s a new one, huh?
It’s a slower-paced game, and carries a pretty fantastic desaturated art style that’s easy on the eyes.
I’ll be honest, though. I don’t think I have the emotional fortitude to get invested in caring for cute little badger cubs, only to watch them get picked off by predators or slowly starve to death in the harsh wilderness. The whole concept of the game is intriguing, but it’s pretty clear it’s designed to give you a punch right in the feels.
Speaking of, we’re finally right around the corner from a couple of acclaimed survival-horror games, Outlast and Amnesia 2: A Machine for Pigs. I don’t particularly enjoy these types of games… they freak me the fuck out. I generally force myself to play them alone, in the dark, and the result is not pretty.
So this time I’ve decided I’ll play them alone, and in the dark… but I’ll stream them for your amusement. Outlast comes out the 4th, and Amnesia 2 comes out the following week. I’ll remind you as we get closer, in case you want to tune in and be scared with me/watch me scream like a girl.
