I think it’s much simpler. It’s video game rules. You don’t respawn with bullet holes in most games. But you do lose ammo and stuff like most games. There is an argument to be made for respawning with a minimum amount of ammo or the like, but these are offered in games where it is more or less required to continue.
We established early on that Ethan respawns to a point a few minutes prior. Recall when he was trying to donate blood to save up money, at first the blood would disappear when he respawned. He learned he had to wait a while after drawing blood before forcing a respawn, so that his save point was past the point where he’d drawn blood.

Wow, the Kool-aid Man really changed after his 2nd deployment…
I have to admit, after everything Scott said about Ethan’s powers (such as death being extremely traumatic and him experiencing it over and over having long lasting detrimental effects on his psyche), action scenes with Analog are a lot darker and less entertaining to read for me. It does make it a more realistic superhero story though.
legit, it brings on a whole new posibility of finality that we dont know could exist at any point. there is NO WAY to know how many times hes died and respawned and the next could indeed at any point be his last.

So, is that Zeke (or rather ‘ZK’ in this continuity), Captain Prime, or someone else blowing up the door?
It’s hard to say. Lucas seems unlikely to enter via explosion, and I’m not sure if Zeke is looking to draw attention right now. My money is on the Master. He’s aware that Zeke is alive (Because of all the signs all over town) and wants Ethan for info, hostage, etc.
THEN ZK can see what happens because surely security cameras or some bs, and zk can just turn up back at the shop being all… RED EYES, jk…. glance at scott not kidding… but kidding… as he does with ethan…
They did mention a hero called “Deathblood” in a previous issue whose exploits were measured in bodycounts.
It would be a fitting story twist (as well as reminiscent of standard “Superhero meets superhero and they fight” stories) if this ended in Ethan having to defend the drug dealers with a murderhobo-type of vigilante.
Am i the only one thinking that Ethan really should get better equipment, armor and hit the gym and some martial art class? Sure he cant die but hes been killed 4 times allready and every bad guy is still standing with a minor scratch. All it takes is a shot to the knee etc. Tie him up and throw into cellar and our hero is out about a week before starve to death.

not to take away from the big “rescue” about to happen…. but i feel like ethan has leveled up in his respawning powers to the point he can CHOOSE how and where he respawns. i dont recall him ever doing that before…. was it only ever 1, 2, 3, and 4, that spawned from the tube? or was that ethan?? either way… it brings a whole new almost teleportational power to his skillset.
There was a mention of a superhero killing his criminals as well. Some superheroes aren’t as good as you might hope.

I think we can all agree the shading in this one is top notch

As far as Ethan being or not being one of the good supes… He’s died – what? – 5 times in this encounter? and the 3 I would guess at most mid tier thugs he’s fighting are only mildly scuffed up? I mean – he’s got a phenomenal power (aside from the mental aspects of dying over and over), but he still needs a lot of experience/practice.
Though I agree they are only mildly hurt with two of them a concussion, I think he’s doing formidable. So far he has only never had to face a group of criminals where he can’t use lethal force. The other criminals were few in number and could be incapacitated in one way or another, like controller cords after grabbing them. All of which had minimal damage on them where possible. His arsenal should help. The zapper should take the one out longer and I haven’t seen the glue bombs now, but they might not want to use that last one… Read more »

I was hoping for that part where they ran out of ammo.
AND THE WINGED HUSKARS ARRIVED
Sir, I see that you’re a man of culture as well.
Ready to break some life, I bet.
I’m assuming this is a reference to this?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcYhYO02f98
If so, thank you for introducing me to it.
Poor Ethan. He can’t make a full sentence without being rudely interrupted.
“It was at this moment that Albie remembered: even if the masked twerp had infinite lives, *he* did not.”
Have you been hitting F5 until the new comic was posted?
Nevermind, asinine remark, you’re not the first responder. Carry on!
Yes, as if it wasn’t the first comment, it wouldn’t have been an asinine remark. Bullet dodged.
Well, it may have grazed a little….
What an utter waste of a comment
No worries, like Ethan’s lives I have unlimited comments.
But just out of curiosity, you really consider your comment a “better use of comments”?
this guy…. am i rite?
… hmmm that makes it seem like im talking about wesley… suppose i mean @dodgy? …. no….. @wesley? maybe… i dunno.. time spent is time spent guys. first world problems.
Why does this even matter? It was a good comment and not just crying “FIRST”, or “SECOND” as it were. Is it jealousy that drives you?
Oh no, it’s the big mean captain hero who totally means business!
Must be all the gunshots.
Or Zeke enjoying the fine art of detonating C4. No real reason, they just like blowing things up
See, his outfit does respawn without holes.
That makes my previous statement perfectly valid!

In fact, the stunt control is still in the ground, not respawning

Oh yeah!

Yes, presumably.
Exactly my thought. I think 50/50 shot, either Lucas or ZK. I’m leaning toward ZK.
I vote Zeke

im with you… but i 10000% desperately want it to be scott “helping” by way of appologie.

Maybe it’s Demolition Duke. Villains do recur, after all!

And, the winner is… PYRE!
love these

Rescue? Maybe. Or possibly this could be the competition arriving. These guys could be operating on someone else’s turf.
