it’s still *scheduled* for Dec 10th, but Amazon a few days ago got stock in their warehouse, and then a day or 2 after that, someone managed to get their hands on a live copy.
I took Thanksgiving off last year as well. Now that I have kids, it’s just healthier for me to take those two holidays to focus on all the family stuff, rather than stressing trying to get do work AND get ready for the holidays.
To be honest, I thought “hey I forgot to view yesterday’s comic” this morning and checked in only to remember you took time off. Was really annoyed with it, thinking “how frickin’ hard is it to prepare a comic in advance?! This is just bad form!”. Took me a few moments and then reading your post above to realize what a selfish self-entitled dick I was for thinking like that. Ofcourse you deserve time off, this comic is a free service and if anything I should be thankful (see what I did there) for making this comic available -free of… Read more »
Typically, and for 363 days of the year, if I want time off, I do prepare comics in advance. But then, that’s not REALLY time off, is it? It’s just working twice as many hours in one day so that I can work zero hours on another day.
So yeah, for these two holidays, especially THESE two holidays that are so different for us because of the pandemic, I allow myself to just really be off. And I appreciate you understanding, because it makes a big difference to my stress level to be able to do that.

I seriously can’t believe people are already dropping spoilers. What are you doing with your life, Internet?
Apparently the internet is streaming the most anticipated game of the year. Honestly not even mad, that’s got to be the most ingenious use of an early copy possible. Absolutely *everyone* interested who doesn’t care about spoilers will be watching you, talk about a popularity explosion.
The issue is the bitching will probably begin… on the one hand, we’ll have all those who are never satisfied and on the other, all those rabidly loving the new stuff. I feel like Ethan but for different reasons. I hate the reviews that focus less on what’s there and more of how people feel about what is there which boil down to opinion-driven arguments. Me, I’ll wait six months. Any messed up stuff at launch will get handled. Hype will have gone goodbye. I’ll get a game, maybe even on sale, that’s all the awesome it can be without… Read more »

Ah. Priorities. Good thing there is no pandemic in this story, that might actually make Lucas, the cool and calm, snap.

Careful, Ethan! Last time you had those blinders on the whole world disappeared! XD

I’m probably going to skip Cyberpunk at this rate. All the rage around the game has kinda killed the fun for me.
… that and Shadowlands. Blizz has renewed their lease on my soul.
With the way I play games, I’ll probably pick it up four years from now, bargain binned, having had all the spoilers leaked to me one way or another, and think, “huh, yeah, I can see why everyone was so excited for this back in the day.”
That’s kinda what he does. Even though it’s not power-aided, he wouldn’t be much of a Batman-like if he couldnt hit a bullseye with accuracy.

It’s a surreal thing seeing a reference to social distancing in a story that has otherwise not yet referenced COVID. Rightly setting aside the obvious question of “why would social distancing be a part of their vocabulary” as part of the suspension of disbelief, it reminds me that, right now, there is a way in which the science fiction world that Ethan/Lucas inhabit feels more “normal” and familiar than the world we live in right now. I’ve been experiencing that a lot recently with fiction, and it’s just odd. Like watch shows and being surprised at how close everyone is… Read more »
There was ONCE a semi-reference, back when E3 was cancelled. I don’t think that ‘Covid’ was mentioned. Comments blew up huge, and again when Tim made a comic about two-point hospital, not even TRYING to make a statement about US healthcare. People attacking others left and right. I’m guessing, that because A&D inhabit a strange form of comic-book time, in which a month’s worth of time can take place in OUR year, but game and console releases happen mostly on-time with us, AND because of the huge issues and how polarizing Covid is in the states, Tim opted to make… Read more »
Thank you for the insight – while I did not recall those particular creative decisions, they certainly make a lot of sense as reasons why COVID is not being mentioned overtly. However, the point I was trying (and perhaps failing?) to make was not one of criticism to Tim, or anyone else – right now COVID is a loaded topic and there’s a lot of ways to turn people off without intending to. I respect creative decisions to tackle it, omit it entirely and everywhere in between; it can’t be any easy call to make. Rather, I meant to convey… Read more »
Good point. In fact, it reminds me a bit of the old joke, once 45 took office, that The Onion was going out of business because it was impossible to write satire that topped the weirdness of daily life. When it comes.to creative writing, I tend to stick close to Chekhov – all things present in the story should serve the story, and additional unnecessary bits should be cut. Don’t make a promise to your reader you don’t intend to deliver on; if a gun is hanging above the hearth in Scene 1, it better have gone off by Scene… Read more »
Have a good holiday.
taking this shit more seriously than covid
Not to make light of Covid. But to Ethan it would be a very annoying respawn. But a spoiler stays with him.
More importantly, he needs to turn key sounds off. Immediately.
I couldn’t agree more, such an annoying sound that only draws attention to oneself.
It’s so weird to have Cyberpunk 2077, a game releasing in 2021 at the earliest, in the same strip as Demon’s Souls, a game that released in 2009.
I mean, a remake just came out for Demon Souls, I assume that’s what the poster is about, not the original.
he even has blinders on. hes super serious.
Did I miss something? It’s still *scheduled* for Dec 10th, 2020? Right?!?!?
it’s still *scheduled* for Dec 10th, but Amazon a few days ago got stock in their warehouse, and then a day or 2 after that, someone managed to get their hands on a live copy.
Someone started streaming the retail copy of the game a few days ago, so if you’re concerned about spoilers, be aware where you look.
Streaming the game?? Damn, that’s the weirdest flex I’ve heard in a while.
I’m use to you only missing one day a year for Christmas! I’m glad you are taking some time with your family. Have a great weekend!

How dare you take care of your family instead of working! /s
Happy (day after) Thanksgiving! Hope you had a great day.

It’ll still be there 6 months later if you change your mind and cheaper.
