Dead Island 2 is good, dumb fun. I’m enjoying playing through with a co-op buddy. But even if it’s not your cup of tea, you really should check out the F.L.E.S.H. system they created for the game.
It’s interesting from a technical standpoint, and entirely effective for a zombie game. It takes typical slaughtering of the undead, and elevates it to an impressively gruesome level. I’ve seen more of people’s inside squishy bits than most med students.
Shamelessly stolen and paraphrased:
Stewardess: “Is anyone on the plane a doctor?”
Man: “I am! I have my doctorate in math!”
Stewardess: “This man is having a heart attack!”
Man: “Minus 1!”
the one with philosophy is better
“this man is going to die”
“we all are going to die”
Bystander: Is anyone here a doctor?
Doctor: I am!
Bystander: Well you’re a NERD!
I’ve always loved this little gem:
It finally happened! The flight attendant asked “is there a doctor on this flight?” and I leapt up and made my way to the front of the plane.
Performed a tracheotomy at 30,000ft with a razor blade and a ballpoint pen.
Sadly, they didn’t make it, but the thrill was undeniable. I’m even considering going to med school now.
“I’m a doctor.”
“Don’t just stand there, help him!”
“I’m a doctor of literature.”
“He is dying!”
“To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.”
how disturbing it may be that is actually awesome! It’s very nicely done that when u hit em in the head with a bat or shoot their abdomen or slash their knee that there’s actual different and “anatomically correct” damage done. These people are artists really.
Incredible. And I’m damn glad I wasn’t eating anything while watching that video.
I’ve seen some video of the gameplay, maybe when he’ll cost like 10$ I’ll give it a try, but for now, meh.
*tsk* Already doing it wrong. That’s clearly a table spoon. Should be using a soda spoon….
Anyone remember Trauma Center? I should get back to playing that.
Apparently it is soo accurate it fooled Youtube AI in to thinking its real murder vids.
True story, had my appendix removed Friday after waiting for a surgeon at the hospital for 30 hours while drugged on morphine to keep the pain at bay…mine was thankfully acute and not burst, but still hurt like nothing I’d felt before…
Trust me. If it burst, you would be on the table a whole lot sooner.
Thank you for reminding me that this came out….
IN 4 DAYS. NOW I’M SAD.
Wow, that is incredibly detailed. I’ll have to check that out.
We’ve gone from “Fully Destructible Environments” to “Fully Destructible Bodies”
What will they think of next?
Though I do hope we stop sleeping on that Red Faction Environmental stuff sometime soon again. That was fun.
And I don’t mean Red Faction: Guerilla.
I find Dead Island 2 to be a functional sequel to Dead Island, in all the ways that is good or bad. It doesn’t really push the genre (outside of that gore detail) but it also nails everything well enough to be fun.
I do miss the ridiculous physics of the cars in the first, though.
Laughs and laughs having played Tales from the Borderlands and what is done with eyes there. Ironically here the wife could step in. ‘This man does Not need a Doctor.’ *Snaps gloves on. ‘He needs a Nurse.’
As awesome as it might be(which it is and sort of creepy too), I wonder how much of an impact it has on the game after you been playing it for a while.
But why a spoon cousin?!
Because it’ll hurt more you twit!
I got that reference
Next strip Tim representing himself in court making use of his thousand hours in Apollo. ?
That video was disgusting. Mexican cartell simulator. I never played or play zombie games for the human evisceration but for the survival apsects and the mechancis around them, plus some exploration. That they have a focus on something like that basically tells me that something is off with the rest of the game. I very much enjoyed the free running & climbing in Dying Light but I guess that’s not a thing anymore. What I would’ve liked to see was some crafting, construction, equipment and usable items added that add more than just “use to kill zombies”. Eventually also a… Read more »
I suggest you try “7 Days to Die” or “The Infected”, both are Indie games that have all those aspects you like and are far less gross. I have over 400 hrs on both games and while they are not complete, they have plenty of challenges and areas to explore and gather resources. Both get regular updates adding additional aspects to the game. “Mist” is another one that’s interesting but it’s not as advanced as the other 2 there are many areas of the map that are empty as yet. 7 Days has both co-op and PVE, all 3 are… Read more »
I should add all 3 are under $25 to $11, 7 Days is the most expensive now since it’s nearly finished Mist is the cheapest since it’s about 2 steps above playable.
One thing I’ve noticed in all the zombie genre is I keep seeing zoms with the flesh missing from an arm or leg and they can still use that limb! Not realistic at all. without tendons muscle is just meat, without ligaments bones are just dropping off. While the video is gross, it seems a bit more realistic to me.
“I can save him! I’m a doctor on (insert soap opera here).” It’s a good gag, but it’s been done quite a bit.
“Not realistic at all.” “Zombies.” Uh…….
Huh. I do a very similar thing after going on a House binge.
Holiday Inn Express would like a word.
