You kill off this cinnamon roll of a man, I swear I’m gonna riot!! It’s about time Lucas gets some happiness of his own. Especially with what he’s been dealing with lately.
How about little maiming? Coma? There are worse things than death… yeah I probably shouldn’t give any ideas. Assuming Tim has not already planned the fates of the supporting cast.
Luckily i don’t think Tim writes or plans to write this comic like a daytime soap opera so i think we are safe from the maimings and comas for now. Death or kidnapping is still on the table though.
That’d be one hell of a start to a Villain arc, though! From D-Pad to… Downvote!

I remember many years ago, after the story reboot, how ‘betrayed’ I felt for having to leave behind all those characters. And I remember how reluctant I was to accept these new versions. But comic by comic, and with how well the story is written, how perfectly the script is integrated into the world, the great pacing, and not resorting to cheap tricks to stretch the story… Every comic that comes out shows me how wrong I was to judge it that way back then. You’re not wrong. Although I was always supportive of his decision, there was always a part of me that I wish he hadn’t. But the longer he’s been making this comic, the more I realize it was the right move all along. He basically wrote himself into a corner, and he handled the reboot masterfully.
Because usually we get gay stereotypes, not just dudes that at a glance youd just think were broest of bros.
I am serious, the bond of brotherhood between men can seem gay as heck to outsider, especially military kind.

Ben is such a lovable character, and the relationship feels so well written, especially because we could witness Lucas’ stance on relationships (keep it casual) before, and see the changes in him.

I can’t shake this feeling that he’s writing us into a trap. That Lucas is going to have to choose between saving the “damsel in distress” or saving his boyfriend. I’m enjoying this as it’s being written, but the shadow looms.
Yup. Or maybe we’re just so fucked in the head that we can’t accept happiness and protect ourselves by bracing ourselves for the moment it goes wrong so we can say “See? Told you so!!”
(to be honest, I don’t think Tim decided to do something bad right away, they’ll just run into Ethan or something. Who has his own struggles with Confidence – re: arc title).

I am so jaded I’m sitting here goblining like, “What is it? What’s the awful!?! Is he Deathblood? Is he one of the Troll’s minions!?! Is he going to get fridged!?! Happiness only exists to be used to hurt us! Just cut to the hurt and stop our wondering!!! HISSSSSSS!”

He looks like when Luke Wilson grew a moustache that time.
I love this story line, the writing has been fantastic. Good to see. Am concerned like others that it’s setting up for a fall. I don’t think he’s deathblood, or another super/vigilante. But revealing your identity (sort of) to a loved one often leads to them becoming collateral.
