So, yeah. Redfall is pretty bad. Not even co-op with my buddy was enough to overlook how disappointing the game is. Typically I’d be like “well, whatever, it was on Gamepass, I didn’t pay extra for it,” but… even that rings pretty hollow. Redfall managed to make even my $10 feel like a waste.
I don’t know what the hell Xbox is doing. They had such a promising start to this console generation. Heavens help them if Starfield sucks, they may never recover.
Oh, and in other news, thanks to your awesome support, Axe-A-Lot-L is now funded! We’re making a game! With that milestone accomplished… onto some stretch goals! Love you guys!
Was really interested in gaming this but with critics like this…
Critics like what, man?
If pretty much every actual critic out there and a TON of casual players are saying it sucks, then odds are it probably sucks.
That’s what I wanted to say…?
Seeing all these bad feedbacks (and mostly, from Tim) has stopped me from activating one of my voucher gift gamepass and try it
Ahh, perhaps you meant critiques like this?
Again victim of not being native speaker…
Ah don’t worry about it dude, you were almost there. We got it in the end!
I like it… ?
Not just Critics, everyone.
If Redfall is as bad as Tim here says, it makes me worried about Starfield.
It’s never good to get hyped into something. Keeping tabs on promising projects is fine, but the hype around Starfield just feels like its own thing, a la cyberpunk 2077. Now cyberpunk is fine but it didn’t cure cancer.
It’s so much easier to be a gamer who buys things 1 week after release and let the masses filter through and prove if something is good.
We live in a golden age of games, there’s more excellent games than we can ever play. One big name being bad is about as consequential as the movie Amsterdam bombing.
I dont even get 1 week. I wait at least 2-3 years. Than I can play it how it is meant to be played on an avarage PC and the modding community could fix the game. ^^
I mean, every single Elder Scrolls/Fallout title has been hilariously buggy at launch. I can’t imagine Starfield being an exception.
Panel 3 is far more hilarious than it has any right to be.
I was half expecting the gun to turn around and shoot the user, what with Bethesda’s little copyright hiccup.
I remember the old weird Steam machine appearance a few years ago. Perhaps is there time for a revival now with the Steam deck?
I keep waiting for a Steam strip where Tim riffs how Steam players hate all the consoles because they get Auto-Aim assist to help keep up with the better accuracy of a PC interface.
I was desperately looking forward to Redfall, more than I have pretty much any other game in the past few years. When it transpired that all we saw gameplay wise in demos was a vertical slice to make the game look WAY better than it is, it was truly disappointing. What strikes me most of all is just how lazy it all is. The AI has zero pathfinding, the gunshots don’t feel remotely impactful (seriously, who would just stand there while getting riddled full of holes?) and that’s when the hits even register at all, it’s so poorly optimized that… Read more »
God, this is depressing. I mean, this is ARKANE for fuck’s sake. One of the VERY few game companies that I had any trust left in.
What’s worse is that isn’t just a misstep…this game(and I use the word very loosely) is just an embarrassment. There’s just nothing here, it’s like the idea of a game without any development at all and it’s from the developers of some of my absolute favorite games likr Prey and Dishonored.
I knew not to get my hopes up too much but this hurts.
Did you ever try Deathloop? It was okay, but felt really underwhelming in comparison to their other titles. It was almost solely the reason I didn’t get much hype for Redfall.
I did, and yes it was definitely a step down for Arkane. However, Redfall is like taking that step down into the fucking Grand Canyon.
Oh without question. Deathloop to me felt like they forgot to make sure the game had Quality of Life details that would improve their vision.
Redfall seems like they forgot to even make the game a game. Like they did the whole ‘tick the boxes’ thing too many games do these days.
well, M$ got company in 2020, deathloop was 2021 aka it was likely entering polishing stages when acquisition came, while redfall was pretty much entirely crafted under new era (in many regards, M$ and €A are cut now from very same cloth)
What exactly you did expect …microsh*t bought parent (which also is parent for Betahesda) in 2020 ,and this is first game (started) of em under that parentship, and see what came out:D
As i’ve heard it said before, Starfield won’t make people move from PS5 to Series X, but if Starfield turns out to be garbage, it might be enough to make people move on from the Xbox.
Yeah it’s disappointing that the studio behind Dishonored and Prey had such a poor showing. I can only hope it’s a case of “Hey, this is what you asked for” since Microsoft acquired them.
And “Is Starfield Going to Suck” has got to be a joke question, right? Of course it’s going to suck. It’s a Bethesda in-home developed game. It’s going to flipping explode people’s consoles in its promising mediocrity.
The last thing of note Bethesda game studios made was Fallout 76. Then Fallout 4. And before that Skyrim.
Considering Skyrim was a hit, but that started dev over a decade and a half ago. That’s a long time.
Bethesda Game Studios does not inspire confidence. Starfield is going to have the worst aspects of modern fallout and elder scrolls, I don’t see anything different.
Skyrim was highly rated….it was also broken as fuck, from corrupt save files to floating T-posing villagers to the physics engine launching you into the atmosphere It’s very important to remember and separate those two facts. People were *rock hard* for an Elder Scrolls game at the time and the hype was real but when you got down to it all they functionally did was change the map and shortcut a free spell to your R1 button, but it was also a game that required a lot of – functionally free – additional development by the fanbase to fix the… Read more »
Meanwhile the legions of Switches are about to be armed with the TOTK, and they’re a *last gen handheld.*
I used to love XBox, but this is the second generation that I just struggle to see the point. I’d be more upset about them buying, and potentially ruining, Bethesda, if Bethesda hadn’t already basically gutted themselves first.
Like a Handgun versus the Cerebral Bore (Turok) as Xboxes Vs Switch now.
It’s really not that bad, exactly what I thought the game would be and nothing really wrong with it except for content to buy with salvage.
“Did this gun just shit itself?” is now one of my favorite sentences of all time.
So….this is what literal “crapshoot” looks like!
This is the best Console War yet.
“Did this gun just shit itself?”
I can finally use ROTFLMAO with sincerity.
honestly… if I could get an xbox controller for a playstation without breaking the bank (all the one’s I’ve seen are like 100+)… then i’d be happy playing playstation games (looking at you bloodborne). But I don’t know. Playstation controllers just never feel right in the hand. So I wind up never staying on playstation long.
I know this is an xbox highlight, or downlight given it’s not anything positive. But I’m still tilted that the newest Ratchet and Clank was only for PS5, I can’t justify getting a new console for 1 game and my PS4 is still treating me really well.
Clearly Redfall got Axed so hard by the community it went to a place where limbs Don’t grow back.
I get the disappointment, it def. wasn’t the game I had been hoping for, but I think a lot of people are also overreacting for a few reasons. XBOX had a pretty mediocre game output on first party games the last two years. So there is a desire by XBOX fans to get “the one”. It’s an Arkane game, people have expectations of Arkane games, this def. didn’t match it. Lots of Sony fans are feeling very Schadenfreudig and are happy to amplify anything negative. Having said that, I do enjoy the guns more than I do in Dead Island… Read more »
Thanks-a-lot-l for the kickstarter! And congrats! Hopefully I will get the opportunity to pitch in for my own copy. ?
Shovelware: Broken AI, poor choices of gameplay elements, an arrangement of mechanics and gameplay concepts that results in nothing fitting together or being fun or making sense: They even failed at sticking to night time in a vampire game, so fighting them at day is a thing. They can’t even patch their game out of this situation, as similar titles exist that did all that this does, but better. There’s no reason to buy this just to hope it gets to the state of being of similar quality than older, cheaper, more fun to play games, and that’s just talking… Read more »
Today: Microsoft capitulates in the console wars: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/microsoft-exec-admits-console-war-174951394.html
I’m surprised some of you guys still don’t notice the writing on the wall two years ago. Microsoft clearly had shown no interest in the Console Wars as their focus was just on games and buying big market 3rd party markets. Microsoft focused more on selling their console library on the PC instead. All the while, Sony was patient enough to finally overtake the scalping market this year and Nintendo’s marketing ad disguised as a movie is somehow amassing a massive profit of its own.
we all know Starfield will be fine, its the eventual sequel that will suffer from “its not as good as the last one” that every bethesda game gets PLAGUED with
While I agree about Redfall, I find the comic a bit lacking, not what I was expecting from a Console Wars comic. Console wars was for me all about joking about the news with an half-serious story. IMO, it would have been better if the guns exploded, somebody reported to an officer and him saying the lines about being included in the subscription. While I like the line “Did this gun just shit himself” (Yes, I find it epic), it doesn’t fit at all with what Console Wars offered until now. In the same idea, the soldier have never said… Read more »
Oh pllllleeeaasse say your drawing up a few in regards to the FTC vs Microsoft case! Soooo much you can run with! LOLOLOLOL!
