I go to a store because it has what I need for a reasonable price. I couldn’t give any less of a damn about the owner being off their rocker if I tried.
Breath of the wild maybe? The boxart is kinda hard to make out, but I think I can make out “of the” written in red, and the vast scenery seems to match with Zelda. Could be tears of the kingdom too come to think of it!
No it didn’t. There was a photoshopped box art for an ideas wiki page about it, but it never happened and likely never will. Nintendo is obsessively protective of their IPs and is notorious for not playing nice with others.
Oh hell we are going into another arc of this. I though at least we would get a breather of some of the better stuff.
Ugg. I only check in occasionally now cause Analog and D-Pad are not my jam. I think it was a major mistake to have hitched your cart to the superhero hype train as it looks like it has gone off the rails and is now crashing and burning.
I’m going to do us both a favor and let you know now that I’ll probably be committing to a lot of story this year. If that’s not something you’re into, that’s fine, totally understood. But it means this probably isn’t going to be the comic for you, and I’d rather you have the opportunity to decide that now, as opposed to posting these “ugh, this again?” posts every couple of months when we’re on stuff you don’t like. Since 2021, you’ve posted a dozen times, and only one of those was not directly complaining about how we were starting/on… Read more »
Tim, your work is incredible. I have been a fan for over a decade and have looked forward to reading your clips.
Keep up the amazing work and never let the morons (not naming any names Critic) get you down.
I suppose I’m lucky in that I am the opposite of the Critic — I come here *mainly* for Analog & D-Pad and Starcaster Chronicles. That being said, even though *I* didn’t like the Starcaster interruption of one-offs with the latest issue… I get why you did it. And I respectfully ponder if some of the longer Analog & D-Pad arcs (say… over 10 pages) might benefit from that schedule too. I mean… it’s felt like a little bit of a long arc for me, and I really *enjoy* your super-verse, and always look forward to those stories probably most… Read more »
Well said. Perhaps if I could offer a constructive suggestion – Tim, if you’re going to intersperse some one-offs in the middle of a long story, do it in a predictable way, such as One-Off Fridays. That way people like Critic here can know what date the site is worth checking, and you can please more of the people, more of the time.
I am actually thrilled to be starting another arc of Analog & D-Pad. We can’t have them not get to a resolution after the end of the last arc. I kind of miss the old way before the reboot into the current different settings, but I also understand that drawing and writing the same thing for years can get a bit… tiresome. Keep doing what you are doing Tim. It is working. If the person is going to complain, they were going to complain about anything and everything.
I have been wondering how Ethan’s power works, does it restore him to how he was the moment before his death or does it return him to how he was the moment of the accident. If it is the former then that would be a terrible curse for when he eventually dies of old age. Coming back only to die again seconds later…
It restores him to his “last healthy state.” So how that works on old age (is there a sliding scale of healthy?) is sorta a unknown.

Not to be confused with the human panphobia of assuming everything is an alien-pretending-to-be-something-else-to-ambush-you stage.

Whats even funnier to me is that Lucas has a perfectly logical reason for Ethans potential post-superpower like hes ordering a bagel and coffee at the local cafe.

I’m consistently surprised how well this comic is handling “Ethan grapples with his inevitable mortality” (which we ALL will grapple with) and mixing it with humor.
It’s a dark subject! We’re all going to die and I personally don’t quite care knowing that. But the humor keeps it going.
It could be really easy to let Ethan wallow in a pit of actual depressive despair but the light tone lets us know that this isn’t forever.

It’s panels like this, with Lucas just being normal Lucas in full view, that I realize I forget how fit he is in this iteration. Makes sense, can’t really be a super hero without making sure you get that workout in, but my mental picture always goes to slightly tubby 1.0 Lucas, heh.
The fact that guy is still in the store speak of him being a very supportive customer.
Probably a regular there, therefore used to Ethan … being Ethan …

He’s been on screen before. During Ethan’s ill-conceived bet with Lucas over Monster Hunter. He’s almost definitely seen his antics before.
i have a rick and mortar game store near me. trust me when i say this is pretty tame for the weird stuff we see.
You’re juuuuuuuust that little bit of typo away from saying you have a “rick and morty” game store…
This is the obsessive nerd in me, but what game is the guy buying or selling? I recognize everything else shown in the store.

The green border suggests XBox to me though
I don’t think it’s actually BotW, but BotW did get a Xbox One port.

I zoomed in on the Hi-Res version from Patreon. Looks like the title is “Call of the Mountain”. I don’t think it’s a real game.
Could be the Horizon VR game? But you’d think the case would be blue then…
Looks a bit like State of Decay
I noticed something odd :
The title of the strip doesn’t match the title of the webpage ^^ Is it some kind of secret title ?
Just misplaced SEO nonsense.

Big fan of CAD. Not much of a commenter tho. Like the story, like the humor. Thanks for the work you put in
Haters gonna hate, don’t listen to them. You’re doing awesome work Tim, Analog & D-pad is phenomenal. Keep it up 🙂
Me, I love the Analog + D-Pad stuff. AND the Starcaster stuff. And the D&D game 🙂 Keep on keeping on, people love what you do.
Been reading for almost a decade and I can’t even remember when I last made a comment if ever.
I’m a fan of this series so thanks! Ethan’s goofynes makes me smile! Ignore the haters!
I thought the Troll went to jail? what are you doing here “Critic?”
😅
There is internet in the jail too
